Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00264Sage (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Sage. This pretty girl was a stray whose owner never came forward. Her finders kept her as long as they could, but knew it was best to find a permanent solution for her elsewhere. This is where we entered the picture. Sage is 4-year-old mixed breed girl who weighs about 50 pounds. Some people have guessed she was boxer. Some have had said shepherd. Others have said lab. We don't have a clue. Sage is a pretty, calm, sweet girl who really would love for someone to take her in and snuggle a bit while she gets her treatment. Sage has been around other dogs in the finder's home and did very well with everyone she met. She was also found ... (Read More)with another male dog who is her good buddy, but doesn't have to be rehomed with him. We know that Sage has been around kids of all ages and has been very tolerant. We do not know how she is with cats. Sage is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and crate trained although we suspect that she would also be fine without a crate. Sage knows several commands and walks well on leash. She is also a nice little companion in the car. Unfortunately, Sage is heartworm positive which means she needs treatment which consists of an overnight vet stay and then a month of rest being a couch potato. She will be as good as new in no time! If you are interested in meeting Sage and helping her complete her heartworm treatment, we are accepting foster and adoption applications on our website www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. Her vet treatment will all be covered in this fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00261Noella (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Noella. No matter which picture we thought about posting, Noella looks like a medium sized dog. We're not sure what is so deceiving, but this girl is a 6-year-old chihuahua/Jack Russell terrier mix and weighs about 15 pounds. Her mesmerizing blue eye catches your attention, but her personality will steal your heart. This little girl has the lap dog desires of a small dog, but the readiness for exploring outdoors like a big dog. She's the best of both worlds. Noella lived the first part of her life child free and since the addition of two kids, she can get stressed out. She has never bitten, but does sometimes low growl to warn kids ... (Read More)when the petting is too much. On the other hand she does sometimes choose to lay right in between the kids just to hang out. We think older, more predictable kids who know how to be gentle would be ideal for her. Noella has not been raised with other dogs besides the one other dog in her home. She would do best as an only dog in her new home. Noella does not like cats. Noella knows a few commands and has great house manners. She is trustworthy in the home without a crate and has been for many years. Noella also loves to ride in the car and run around off leash--she would best be suited for a home with a fenced yard. If she does go for a walk, she walks well on leash. She loves to sunbathe and to play with squeaky toys too. Noella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken. If she has to be left alone for extended periods of time, she will also use potty pads. If you would like to meet Noella please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00256Niko (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Niko. Isn't he handsome? This beautiful boy was found with Sage (also looking for a forever home), but no owner ever claimed him. He is such a good boy so we think he had a loving home at some point. Niko is a 1-year-old pittie mix who charms everyone he meets. He is very friendly, very loving and kind of up for anything. He's a medium-energy guy who likes a chance to run and play when appropriate, but also loves time to cuddle. He weighs about 65 pounds and hopes that his forever home will still view this as proper lap dog size. Niko is good with other dogs, but he seems to friend up most often with the ladies. Like we mentioned ... (Read More)above, he was found with Sage so he may have been raised in a home with her although don't seem to be an inseparable pair. While we searched for Niko's owners he remained with the finders for quite some time. He lived with both a female and male dog and a couple of young kids. Additionally, he got to meet all kinds of new people of all ages and he loved it. He would be great with dog-savvy kids. The same cannot be said of cats--we recommend a cat-less home for Niko. Niko is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained too. In general he is very quiet and well behaved. Niko knows how to sit on command and sometimes shakes or lays down. He'll need some practice to polish those skills. Niko likes car rides and is decent on leash. If you would like to offer Niko a forever home, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00202Piper (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Piper. This adorable girl is an 11-year-old rat terrier/Jack Russell terrier mix. Piper is a sweetheart, but has not done well adjusting to children in the family. For this reason she is looking for a calm retirement home where she can sunbathe in the day and cuddle at night. We understand that there are challenges when looking for adopters for a senior dog, but we are confident that someone will love to have little Piper to hang out with to watch TV or to take on walks. Piper is still a spunky, spry girl who also still loves squeaky toys. She knows a few commands and is very well behaved in the home. When left alone Piper likes to ... (Read More)watch DogTV to pass the time. Adding to Piper's challenges is her desire to be an only pet. She has lived several years with Noella (also up for adoption) but has never really spent much time with other dogs. When she does encounter other dogs she mostly ignores them. She is quite the cat and other small critter chaser, so we think a home without cats would be best. And as we mentioned above, Piper would prefer no small children. She is a little cat-like in terms of being pet. When she wants attention she'll let you know. She does sometimes go to the kids for affection, but she gets annoyed when they pet too long or too hard. Piper is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated. If you would like to meet Piper please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $125. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00194Emmett (male)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Emmett. This guy is a real stunner, and we know that his incredibly good looks are exactly what everyone thinks they have been searching for. However, we ask you to read his entire bio before messaging us for more information. Emmett was a stray who ended up in just the right hands to keep him safe until he could be placed in our care. When Emmett was found it took his finder 4 hours to coax the fluffy guy into his truck. It may have been the act of saving him from the middle of the road and passersby who couldn't be bothered, but Emmett immediately bonded with his finder who made it a priority to make sure Emmett had what he ... (Read More)needed--food, vet care, and a much needed bath. The finder held on to him for a few weeks, but no owner was found. Emmett is about 1 year old. He is very timid with new people and new places. Treats are usually a good ice breaker, but even then it will take some time to warm up. Once he trusts you, this guy is so loving and such a sweetheart. At first glance everyone thinks he is a golden retriever mix. As we spend more and more time with him, we think he might be a sheltie/Great Pyrenees mix. We don't know for sure, of course. He is a perfect medium sized boy weighing about 55 pounds. His coat will need a lot of brushing to keep it so pretty. Although Emmett doesn't love the grooming process, he does cooperate. Emmett is a bit of a goofball. He LOVES to run and is learning about toys. He acts quite independent at times, but if you sit on the floor, you had better expect someone to immediately come join you in your lap! Emmett knows how to sit and shake and can catch a treat no matter how poorly you throw it. He was introduced to a couple of dogs and was cautious and sometimes a little jealous. We think he would do well with slow introductions, but he doesn't seem very interested in having a playmate. His feelings for cats is just about the same--coexisting is fine. Emmett would prefer a home with older kids. We are guessing that his timidness will require humans who really understand to be patient, go slow, and not to push too much. Kids don't always get that and it freaks Emmett out. We would love to see Emmett in a home with a fenced yard so that he can run to his heart's content. We also would love to see his adopters understand that Emmett will blossom more and more as he settles into a stable environment. Already with us we have seen so much improvement in his personality. Emmett is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and has been trustworthy without a crate. If you would like to offer Emmett a forever home please complete an application on our website. His adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00187Brianne (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Brianne. This pretty girl is tiny. That's probably the first thing we need to say about her. Most anyone who has seen her picture thinks she's a yellow lab and with that the size of the lab. However, little Brianne only weighs about 25 pounds--she's a mini lab! Actually we think she could be a minpin mix, and who knows if lab is part of that mix. She is maybe 2 years old and pretty darn close to perfect. The second thing we need to say is that Brianne is the sweetest baby girl. She is very happy, friendly and willing to be everyone's friend. Brianne loves other dogs and plays great at doggy day care. In fact, a fun, playful dog buddy ... (Read More)in her forever home is probably preferred. She's even cool with cats as long as they don't mind her constantly asking to play. We think she would be fine with kids too. She isn't super bouncy, but she does still occasionally jump to greet people. Brianne is well behaved, but full of energy. Her forever home should be able to provide her with plenty of exercise and playtime. She's decent on leash, but will also require opportunities to run off leash in a secure area, like a fenced yard or the dog park. Her forever family must also love cuddle time too. This girl is a superior snuggler! Brianne is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken and crate trained. If you would like to meet Brianne please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00183Butterball (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Butterball. Don't let the name confuse you. He isn't the slightest bit pudgy; his roly poly tummy as a baby is what gave him his name. Butterball is a 6-year-old mixed breed boy who probably has some shepherd in him. He's a perfect medium size and weighs about 45 pounds. Butterball's situation is urgent because of a sad family crisis. His owner's mom who lives in the same home was diagnosed Thursday with stage 4 Lymphoma and begins chemotherapy Monday. The house has to be sterilized before chemo begins, making time of the essence. Butterball has lived with his current family since he was a pup and has been very loved. He is a really ... (Read More)good boy who is pretty low maintenance. He loves to go for walks and does well on leash. However, he is not a fan of car rides and can get nervous going new places because of the car ride that takes him to the new place. Butterball is well behaved, has great house manners, and is always cooperative even when he doesn't want to do what is being asked of him. He does have silly spurts where h wants his people to chase him or to play tug-o-war with a random sheet, towel, or blanket. Butterball could do fine as an only pet or in a home with a cat and/or a dog. He has lived with both and does just fine, but he wouldn't be a great candidate for a busy place like the dog park. Butterball has grown up with a kid who is now 12 but he has been visited frequently by kids as young as 6. Butterball is sometimes a little shy at first, so of course we want the kids to be gentle and to be able to take things at Butterball's pace. Butterball is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and doesn't need to be crated because he is such a good boy even when unsupervised. If you would like to offer Butterball a foster or forever home please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Oakey. This pretty girl is as happy as she looks. We tried really hard to snap a picture with her ears up, but it was either ears up or an adorable smile. We accepted this pose because her smile is infectious. Oakey is a 5-year-old pittie mix with a super happy, sweet disposition. Her family recently added another human baby and will be traveling much more in the future; they don't think they are able to give Oakey the attention she needs. Oakey is friendly with all people. She is not really the type of dog that needs a moment to warm up. She pretty much thinks everyone is her friend from the very first meeting. Oakey has been raised ... (Read More)around children, even small children, and is great. She has also had a variety of dog friends in her life. She has done great with all canines too. We do not know how she is with cats. Oakey is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and trustworthy without a crate. She has great house manners, loves walks, and rides well in the car. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-10-00214Max (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Max. Our most handsome guy has quite the history. Max is a 2-year-old golden retriever/husky mix who bounced around to a few homes before he became a PawSwaP dog. Once in our program we had to test a couple of homes before we learned what kind of home would best suit his needs. Last year we thought we had found just the right home to accommodate some of the emotional scars that remain from his rough beginning. Unfortunately, although the family really tried, Max had to return to us. Let's start with everything that is awesome about Max. Max is a very sweet, loving, affectionate guy who is very loyal and trusting of his people. He used ... (Read More)to need a little time to warm up to strangers, but this seems to have improved quite a bit. Max is also tons of fun to play with and is pretty comical when he gets in the right mood. Max has also attended a couple of training classes where he learned leash skills and numerous commands. Max is very smart and loves to be rewarded for good behavior. He is also food motivated and willing to learn new things as much as anyone will work with him. Although he has had quite a bit of training Max is still learning. Max has shared a home with older children and has been successful. We would not recommend a home with smaller children. And here's what makes Max a tough placement. First and foremost, Max must be an only pet in his forever home. He is not good with cats nor dogs, and if given the opportunity, Max will chase both. For this reason, Max MUST have a fenced yard. Max's other issue his separation anxiety. He cannot live in an apartment because he bark as soon as he is left alone. He does eventually settle in, but it takes awhile and in the meantime could annoy neighbors sharing a common wall. Max also struggles in crates, but needs to be crated when unsupervised. It takes a little work to make him feel secure, but he does get the hang of it after some practice and has been crated in his past homes, he just doesn't love it. Max is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and is very well behaved when supervised. If you think you can offer Max a fantastic foster or forever home please complete a required application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Max will need a fenced yard and a home with no other pets. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Prince. This handsome pit mix pup is 9 months old and weighs about 55 pounds; he likely is full grown at this point. He would do well with a bit of basic training and would love a fenced yard to run and play. We would recommend an easy walk harness for Prince as he learns to walk better on a leash. Prince loves to play with toys and is very affectionate with his people. Prince enjoys some dogs, but not all and would do best in a home with no kitty friends. He is too interested and would likely chase them too much. Prince is potty trained, neutered, up to date on his shots, and ready for a home of his own. He is currently in boarding ... Rescue Me ID: 17-02-27-00094Ella (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Ella. This adorable girl is a 1-year-old boxer/lab mix. She was once a stray who was taken to safety and fostered by a great family until we could place her in a new home. She has spent the last two months with a family who loves her, but it has become more and more apparent that she has more confidence with another dog in the home. Ella is very sweet and very friendly. She is a medium energy dog who definitely needs a daily dose of exercise to keep her in check, but once she has burnt off her energy, she is pretty chill. In fact, when she crashes at night, she's out until you wake her in the morning. Since being placed in this home, ... (Read More)Ella has learned a lot about manners and will need to continue this training. As we mentioned before, Ella loves other dogs and would like a dog buddy her size or bigger. She isn't aggressive towards smaller dogs, but she isn't as interested in playing with them. She has spent a lot of time at daycare and the dog park. She gets really excited to be there and gets tired pretty quickly. It's a win for everyone! Ella is great with children although a lot of roughhousing makes her nervous. We're not sure if it's the noise or activity that concerns her. We don't know how she is with cats. Ella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and prefers not to be crated. She has been trustworthy without the crate when unsupervised. The only flaw the cuddly girl has is her nervousness about some mundane things. Car rides and walks can be overwhelming for her, as can a lot of activity outside the house. We are working on lessening this stress for her and think adding a companion dog back into her life will make all of the difference. Ella has been put on puppy Prozac and has made great strides of improvement. Once she is placed with a dog buddy, we can likely ween her off the medication. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Demi. This pretty girl is a 1.5-year-old lab/shar pei mix who was found in Carroll County with her sister. Her sister is in a wonderful forever home, but Demi is still looking for her happily ever after. Demi is a super friendly, happy, and bouncy young girl. She adores everyone and has so much love to give. There has probably never been another dog in our program that was more velcro, snuggly and affectionate than Demi. Demi came to us knowing very little in terms of manners. She still jumps to greet people, but she has now learned to sit and shake on command. She still needs to polish her leash skills, but she is two million times ... (Read More)better than when she first came to us--it's a good thing because she loves walks and car rides. If you take her in public, get ready to have everyone stop you just to great this happy face. Demi is currently fostered with other dogs and loves it. She enjoys playful dogs and would do well at the dog park or in doggy day care. We are told that Demi once lived with children. She has done great meeting kids with us, but the happy jumps might be too much for toddlers. Demi can get a little wound up if she sees a cat on walks; it might not be ideal to place her in a home with felines. Demi is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She has had entropion correction surgery in both eyes and is all healed up. Demi is housebroken and crate trained. She is trustworthy when left alone as long as no food is left anywhere within her reach. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-27-00076Walt (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Walter Elias Disney, or Walt(er) for short. This adorable guy with the pretty hair is a mixed breed sweetie who has left everyone guessing how to label him. We were told that his mom could have been an Australian shepherd mix. His dad is a mystery. We see come corgi and possibly some pom. He is a pretty spunky, but friendly pup who is about 9 months old and weighs about 25 pounds. He is looking for a forever home who can give him a bunch of attention and plenty of opportunities to run and play. Walter has been raised with another dog (a dachshund) but hasn't been around too many new dogs. Introductions will have to go slow. Walter has ... (Read More)been known to snuggle with the dachshund if he isn't snuggling with humans (that's an opportunity he never skips). Walter has also been raised around kids as young as 3 and has been great with them. We do not know how he would be with cats. Walter loves toys, especially those he can destroy. His absolute love is tennis balls. And although he doesn't look like a typical agility dog, he is great at fetch and catching balls in the air. Walter also loves rawhides, dental bones, and pull ropes. He loves to go for walks and rides well in the car. Walter is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is also housebroken and crate trained. He knows some basic commands but can be full of mischief without enough exercise. If you would like to offer Walter a forever home the first required step of the adoption process is completing an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Border Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Katie. This loving girl was a stray found in Carroll County several months ago. No owner came forward and the finders couldn't keep her. We placed her in a temporary foster home to keep her safe and get her health assessed. The foster's schedule is no longer able to accommodate a dog, so Katie has to move along. We are looking for a foster or a forever home for this sweet senior. As a best guess Katie is an older girl, maybe around 12 years old. She is likely a border collie/poodle mix who is one of the sweetest dogs ever. She really is so precious to us. She greets everyone with a smile and the wagging of her stubby tail. She gets ... (Read More)along great with other dogs of all sizes (low energy preferred). We think she would also be fine with cats. Since Katie is older, we recommend older kids who are gentle. Katie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. She is a little stiff in her joints at times, but still loves to go for short walks or to explore a fenced in yard. Katie is urinary incontinent at times with some small dribbles. We are working on finding a medication that will work for her. In the meantime, we are using washable diapers for when she is indoors. Katie doesn't mind a bit and has been cooperative through everything. If you would like to offer Katie a foster or foster-to-adopt home (while we figure out her meds) please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-21-00151Roux (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Roux. This pretty girl will steal your heart. She is such a sweet, gentle, loving soul. Her only issue is that she has decided that living with other dogs stresses her out. For this reason, Roux is looking for a new forever home where she can take center stage and be loved as much as she deserves. Roux is a 4-year-old cattle dog mix. What is she mixed with? We don't really know. She was found with her litter mates as pups without either parent present. Roux weighs about 50 pounds and has longer legs than your typical cattle dog. Whatever the mix is, it has created a stunning beauty. Roux loves all humans, but hasn't really ever been ... (Read More)around children. Older children would be fine. Younger children *might* be fine too, but we aren't much for taking risks, so we will say the kids should be 7-ish years old or older. As we mentioned above, Roux does not want to live with other dogs. She can walk past them on leash without issue; she just doesn't want to share her space with other canines. We do not know how she is with cats. Roux is pretty medium energy. She does like to go for walks, but isn't much up for long car rides. Her favorite thing to do is to go running through the fenced in yard. Some days that's all of the exercise she needs. When she is in the house she is calm and loves to cuddle in your lap. Roux is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken. She has not been crated since she was a puppy and is trustworthy when unsupervised. If you would like to meet the beautiful Roux please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cecil. This handsome guy is a 6-year-old beagle/Brittany spaniel mix who looks like a 30-pound St. Bernard mix at some angles. He has been with the same family since he was a pup and has been very loved and well-cared for, including regular health exams at the vet (his teeth look great!). Until the addition of a human sibling, Cecil had always enjoyed an active lifestyle that included frequent hikes and jogs. Now that the family's life has gotten a bit busier, Cecil isn't getting as much attention and isn't adjusting to the change. Cecil is friendly and happy, but he needs just a moment to warm up to new people, especially in a new ... (Read More)environment. Once he is comfortable he will politely ask for a back scratch. Cecil is quite cuddly with his people and likes to be near them when watching TV or hanging out on the couch. Besides the adventurous activities, this active guy also LOVES tennis balls. In fact, tennis balls are life in his book. Cecil has been raised with other dogs and has shared his home with another dog his whole life. He often snuggles up with his canine sister, but he doesn't really show much interest in playing with her, mostly because his aforementioned love of tennis balls. He could probably be fine as a single dog getting all of the attention or with another dog who isn't looking for someone to romp and wrestle with. Cecil has also been raised around dog-savvy children and has never been nippy. He has never shared his home with a cat, but with a slow introduction he would probably be fine. He has hung out with indoor bunnies and been just fine. Cecil is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is also solidly housebroken. Although Cecil was crated as a pup, he is now very trustworthy when left in the home unsupervised. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Jenny. This pretty girl is a 1-year-old boxer who is exactly what people love about the breed--happy, friendly, goofy, and great with everyone. Jenny came to us with her 9 puppies when her owner couldn't/wouldn't take care of them any longer. Jenny is a smart girl who loves, loves, loves treats and will gladly perform for a tasty reward. We had her speaking on command in a matter of minutes because yummy treats were involved. Her puppies have all found homes, now it's her turn. Jenny is still a bit bouncy and needs to to learn not to jump on people to show her excitement. For this reason we think she would do best with kids who are ... (Read More)steady on their feet and who won't be afraid of her exuberance. Jenny needs to be an only dog and does not enjoy the company of cats either. She is non-reactive to other dogs on walks for example, but does not like other dogs in her personal space. Jenny is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is doing great keeping her kennel clean at the shelter. We think she would be housebroken in a home environment. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Salim. This handsome guy with the giant noggin gets a lot of attention for all of the wrong reasons. Of course his good looks do turn a bunch of heads, but so do the scars on his head, face, and legs. Most people jump to the conclusion that he has been in a fighting ring, and that's just not the case. Salim is a lover, not a fighter, but he has unfortunately been attacked--hence the battle scars. Salim is a 1-year-old pit mix who weighs about 65 pounds (most of that is in his big ol' head). Salim's name means 'safe' in Arabic, and that's all we want this guy to be. When Salim was a puppy he had parvo and overcame that too; he is ... (Read More)resilient and tenacious. We know that there is a perfect home somewhere who will spoil him rotten. Salim is a cuddle baby with a fair amount of energy. He would love a home that enjoys cuddles and activity equally. Salim doesn't have great leash skills yet. However, he is treat motivated and will be fun to train. Salim does well with most dogs, but the attack from a while ago has rattled him some, but never where he is the aggressor. We do not know how he is with cats or small children. We think he would be fine with kids who are sturdy on their feet. Salim is housebroken and crate trained. We need a foster or foster-to-adopt home because we need to get Salim brought up to date on his vetting. He will be neutered, brought up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm tested once we have him placed. Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Ginger and Gabby. These sweet girls are 4-year-old pit/golden retriever mixes. They are a bonded pair of littermates who do not not know life apart. They are looking for a forever home together. And as their foster mom has reported, "Anybody would be lucky to have them. They are the sweetest and most loving four legged children ever." Although many ask whether they can be separated, but the answer is simply "No, they cannot." They depend on one another--they snuggle and play constantly with each other. Gabby is the larger, fluffier one of the two, weighing 65 pounds. Ginger weighs 55 pounds. They kind of gauge their ... (Read More)energy around yours. They can be ready to play at a moment's notice and really like to play ball in the yard. They also play with one another quite a bit. To the untrained ear it can sound pretty rough, but they are just loud and enthusiastic. When that's over, they are ready to hunker down and have some lazy time. But if you go to another room, the girls are coming with. Gabby and Ginger are good with other dogs for the most part. They don't seems to like dominant females though. Alpha males and non-dominant males or females are just fine. They are being fostered with other dogs and are doing well. Gabby and Ginger are fine with children, but we don't know how they are with cats. We suspect that cats wouldn't be such a good idea with them. Both dogs are spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. They are solidly housebroken and crate trained. At the foster's house they stay together in a 5'x10' outdoor kennel inside the climate controlled garage while everyone is at work. When everyone is home, they are right where the action is and soaking up attention. They just want to love and to be loved.     Meet Felicia and Dinky. These two adorable girls are looking for their forever home separately or together. They are currently being fostered together, and get along fabulously. However, they are not a bonded pair, and it is not a requirement they be adopted together. BUT wouldn't that be wonderful? Dinky the cute calico. She was a stray, but has proven herself to be a wonderful companion in her foster home. She is approximately 1-1/2 years old. Dinky is shy meeting new people, but once she gets to know you, there is nothing she likes more than a good belly rub. She gets along very well with dogs and other cats. Dinky also loves human ... (Read More)companionship. You'll often catch her following her foster family around the house, although she isn't really a lap kitty. this pretty girl can be playful, but can also pass the afternoon watching out the window while hanging out on her cat tree. Dinky is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She uses the litter box faithfully and is an all-around great cat. Felicia is approximately 9 months old and oh so cute with her golden eyes and pink nose. She is a gentle girl with a calm and laid back personality. She also gets along with cats and dogs. In her playtime, her favorite toy is the ball on the circular track, which she plays with numerous times a day. She is equally happy relaxing with her human or cat companion. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Snoopy. We thought we might need to spin this post to beg for sympathy for this guy because he isn't the conventional cute that adopters are often looking for. However, we think his uniqueness is exactly what makes him so stinkin' adorable. Snoopy is one of the last dogs to be pulled from the shelter from the hoarding case in mid-October. Now that we have him in foster care, it's almost painful to think that this awesome guy was passed over for so long. He is a 10-year-old chihuahua mix. We were told he was a fullblooded, but those long legs and larger than normal body (14 pounds!) makes it clear that he has more than chihuahua in in ... (Read More)his genes. We are guessing he is a Chihuahua / Italian Greyhound mix. Snoopy has an all-star personality that really has won us over. He gets along great with other dogs and has even been around larger dogs although dogs more his size are more his thing. Snoopy was introduced to cats at the shelter and was completely indifferent to them. Snoopy hasn't been around small kids with us, but he could do well with kids who are patient and gentle. Snoopy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is using a belly band in his foster home when unsupervised and is doing great with it. He is crate trained and pretty quiet all around. Snoopy has also had some dental work done.

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00141Brad Pitt (male)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We might have to change this guy's name. When he first came to PawSwaP as a puppy, he looked like a pit mix pup with unique markings. Now that he has matured into a handsome young man, we see that he really isn't pit after all, but more likely American bulldog. Let us reintroduce to the guy we call Brad Pit. We'll keep the name for simplicity sake, even if it may no longer be the best suited for him. This ultra handsome guy is a 1-year-old amazing dog who was a stray, but found love and a foster home with the very people who rescued him. He is now a young adult and weighs about 70 pounds. Brad is a very friendly guy who loves making new ... (Read More)human friends. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, a big smile and a little bounce. When Brad was first found, he was emaciated and stressed. He had a brief encounter with another dog who isn't awesome with other dogs. Brad's reaction worried the foster family that he may not like other dogs. Last week, we consulted a behaviorist about Brad to figure out what kind of home he would succeed in. Well, come to find out, Brad loves other dogs! He loves to play and would do great with an active Buddy who isn't overly dominant. He showed no signs of aggression and was really relaxed even when a herd of dogs was barking at him begging for his attention. As for cats, this appears to be an extremely new concept for him. He will need to be guided around appropriate play with a kitty. He kind of wants to tackle a cat the way he does other dogs. We're guessing that most cats won't love that play style. Brad is fine with kids; just keep in mind that he a is a big boy who sometimes forgets his size. Not only is Brad fun and funny, he is also a lovable baby. He is cuddly and sweet. He loves to play with his tennis ball. He is also very well trained. he knows several commands and listens very well. His ideal home will love him bunches and continue the training the finders have started. Brad is super smart and loves to learn, especially when treats are involved. Brad is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. He is perfect little boy. He isn't nippy or grumpy at all. In fact, he is very sweet and cuddly once he relaxes with new people. We are lucky that we do have old vet records from Taz that put him at 9.5 years old.     Meet Peaches. We really think just the right picture will make a difference in getting a dog adopted. In all honesty, this is probably not *the* picture for this super duper adorable dog. Peaches is a 4-year-old pittie mix. She is squatty, wrinkly and has a head bigger than the rest of her body--just the way we like it. She is so cute. Peaches was a stray who ended up at IACS (formerly IACC). She was tested with dogs and didn't do well which meant she was deemed "rescue only". Well, not many people are looking for a pittie mix who doesn't like other dogs (or cats) and no rescues came forward. We were hesitant too. A fantastic ... (Read More)foster offered to take Peaches and give her a great temporary home. Of course we couldn't say no. Peaches is so wonderful with people. She is very friendly and loves young and old equally. Like we said above, she does need to be an only pet in the home though. She is a little strong on leash (Easy Walk harness is helpful). Otherwise, she is a well-behaved and a doll to share a home with. Peaches is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and quiet in her crate. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Solana. This sweet girl can be added to our list of great saves. She, along with two others, was given a given a deadline at IACC to either find rescue or be put to sleep. As awful as it sounds, sometimes large-intake shelters have to make awful choices when they get bombarded with strays and owner surrenders. When there is no place for the dogs to go, what other choices do they have? We get it and try to help when we can. Solana was definitely worth the save! Solana is a two-year-old pittie mix. She is a compact girl with a lot of strength in her little body. She weighs 45 pounds. We can tell she has something else non-bully in her ... (Read More)mix, but we aren't sure what. Maybe Jack Russell? Anyway, we love Solana and her friendly playful spirit. She is a total sweetheart who makes friends quickly. She was abandoned in her home for several days before she was found. She is deaf and might feel comforted having another dog to read body language and cues about her surroundings. Solana does not do well with cats. We could see Solana in a home with children who are steady on their feet. She get a little bouncy when she's extra excited. Solana is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken, but not crate trained. Well, she can go into a crate, but absolutely hates it. At her foster home she is confined to one room and does great. She will need more work on commands. It's a little tough because of her deafness. Simply giving a verbal command won't cut it. We are working on hand cues with er and want her forever family to do the same. Please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting if you are interested in meeting Solana. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)
