Chihuahua    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rosie. This snuggly, sweet girl is a 5 year old chocolate Chihuahua that weighs 10 pounds. She has lived with many children in her life and does well as long as they are gentle and respectful of her small size. Rosie has also lived with other dogs and co-exists well. She is tolerant of other calm dogs that can share space and not expect her to want to play much. Rosie would likely be fine around cats. Her favorite spot is next to her person. She is mostly house trained and used to a fenced yard. She is currently learning to do leash walking in her current foster home. Rosie has also used potty pads in the past. Rosie is spayed, ... Rescue Me ID: 17-05-03-00200Gabby (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Gabby. This pretty girl is a 5-year-old lab /husky mix who is looking for a forever family that is home a bit more than her currently family is. She is a medium-energy girl who can sometimes be shy at first. This is usually also connected to being in a strange environment. Gabby has lived with another dog her whole life., but sadly, the other dog is older and not much of a playmate to her--something that would probably be listed on top of Gabby's wish list for her new home. Gabby has also lived with small children. She is gentle and patient as long as the kids know how to be gentle and patient with her. Gabby has never shared her home ... (Read More)with cats, but we think she would do just fine. She might chase a cat, but wouldn't intentionally hurt one. Gabby is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken, but does not like to be crated. She is trustworthy without a crate as long as things are kept out of her reach such as food and shoes. She does get anxious if she is left alone for too long or if it storms. If you would like to meet Gabby, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-03-00182Makenzie (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Makenzie. This pretty girl is just as sweet as she in unique. She is a 2-year-old basset/pit mix, maybe a basspit hound. Get it? Makenzie can be a little shy at first and is generally submissive-- she rolls over and shows her belly to any person and any dog. She has NEVER been aggressive with anything, but does enjoy chasing cats. Makenzie had some slight physical developmental delays when she was a pup due to her needing casts on her front legs. During this critical time she wasn't able to be taken outside regularly for potty breaks. This put her behind the curve in terms of housetraining. She is doing much better these days, but ... (Read More)will have an occasional accident. This is probably her one and only flaw. Makenzie has been raised around other dogs. She does great with everyone of all sizes, but she would probably also be fine as an only pet. Makenzie is also sweet and gentle with kids. She may not love to be around a bunch of rowdy kids, but hanging out and being loved would be right up her alley. Makenzie is so loving and snuggly--all 58 pounds of her. The more love she cant get, the better. She knows some basic commands and does well on leash. She is super treat motivated and is ready to learn anything you teach her. Makenzie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is well behaved in her crate and mostly housetrained (see note above). If you would like to offer Makenzie a forever home, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-01-00089Trooper (male)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Trooper. This handsome boy is a 1-year-old American bulldog who is looking for a fantastic forever home. Trooper has been staying with extended family who wanted to help him out, but quickly realized they are unable to give him the time and exercise he needs. Trooper is a big boy, weighing about 80 pounds now. We do expect him to fill out a bit as he matures. Trooper is super lovable, but intimidating to most. He is inquisitive and appears to be serious, but under the deep stares is playful, happy boy who loves treats. Trooper has lived with other dogs and does great. His bestest buddy is currently a little Boston terrier girl who ... (Read More)loves running with the big dogs. We do not know how he is with cats, but we suspect he would never intentionally harm one, but he might get a little rough. Trooper gets nervous around small children. He just hasn't had much experience and the experience he had, the kids were a little too much for him. We think he would be fine with older kids (12+) who know how to appropriately interact with dogs. Trooper does know a few commands and has great house manners. He is very strong on leash if he is not on an Easy Walk harness. He does like car rides and gets really excited in new places. Trooper is looking for a forever home, preferably with a fenced yard where he can be spoiled and loved on. He really likes to cuddle and is used to sleeping in bed with his people. Yes, he is a very large lap dog. Trooper is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is also solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated when left alone unsupervised. If you would like to meet Trooper, please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions directly on the application. After we review applications we will arrange a meet and greet. Trooper's adoption fee is $175. http://www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.html (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-01-00081Royal (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Royal. There are fewer sweethearts in this world than this handsome guy. He is friendly to all and always happy. And when you are with him, you have to be happy too---he makes sure of it. Royal is a 3-year-old pittie mix who weighs about 50 pounds. He is a fairly high energy guy who loves to run and play. Royal gets along with other dogs, but he isn't much of a rumble-tumble/wrestling kind of guy. At most he wants to run along with another dog and can co-exist in a home environment just fine. That being said, Royal prefers to be with people and to play with people over other canines. He loves rope toys, but also plays with balls. ... (Read More)Royal could live in a home with cats as long as he is monitored. He will chase cats that run unless he is corrected. Thankfully he takes correction well and will back off as soon as he is told to leave it. Royal has spent the last year with children as young as 5 years old . He is friendly and gentle with kids, but his energy is sometimes more than some young kids want to deal with. Royal is a cuddle baby when he isn't running. Part of that comes from his stellar personality, but part of that is because this guy is always cold! Poor Royal as a naturally thin coat than makes him very sensitive to weather. When the temps drop below 50 degrees, Royal wears a coat to stay warm. Royal is a bit strong on leash. We always recommend an Easy Walk harness or similar for dogs who have a tendency to tug on leash. Otherwise, Royal is well mannered and knows some basic commands. Royal is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. If you would like to offer Royal a forever home please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions directly on the application. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet sweet Bella. This 7 year old beauty had an owner who moved out of the country and couldn't take her along. Bella is great with children, but is scared of other animals. She hides and won't come out. Bella is very affectionate and would love to be a cuddle bug in your home. She is currently in a temporary foster home with other pets and is sad to have to be separated from the bunch due to other animals in the foster home. Bella uses the litterbox with no problems and has learned not to scratch on things that don't belong to her. She is very quiet and well behaved. She is spayed and up to date on shots. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00243Reggie (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Reggie. This handsome guy with the best ears is a 5-year-old Catahoula mix. Reggie is a sweet, sweet boy who loves to cuddle and meet new people. He often looks way more serious than he really is--Reggie can be very playful and silly too. Reggie is currently fostered with other dogs and does great. There is one dog that is probably too similar in personality that he doesn't jive well with. In general he needs a slow introduction and then warms up pretty quickly after that. He ignores cats completely. Of course the ones he has been around have also ignored him too. Reggie hasn't had much experience with small children, so we would ... (Read More)recommend kids 10+ just to be on the safe side. Although Reggie is a snuggle baby, he also loves to run and play in the back yard with his other dog buddies. Depending on the day or mood, Reggie might be considered a medium-high energy kind of guy. In his forever home, where he will be able to get a little more individualized attention, we suspect that he will be a little more low key. Reggie is decent on leash and rides well in the car. Reggie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and well behaved in his crate. If you would like to offer Reggie a forever home please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Boris. This guy is so handsome and has one of the best smiles we have seen. He is a friendly, energetic, silly guy who would love to live with an active person who can appreciate his desire to be adventurous. Boris is about 5 years old and is a pittie mix of sorts. He was originally from South Carolina and was found in the trunk of a car starved and heartworm positive. His foster mom took him in, got him healthy, and now he is ready for his forever home. Boris loves people and likes to tell them as often as possible. He gives kisses, hugs and does the typical pittie nibbles. He has never been aggressive, but still is mouthy during ... (Read More)play. Boris is good with other dogs, especially the ladies. He can be possessive over food. As long as he is fed separately, he is fine.Boris gets a long well with cats, but does chase them. He has never hurt a cat in his foster home--those cats are also pretty dog savvy. Boris would be fine with children who can handle his strength and energy. Like we mentioned above, he is never aggressive, but he can be bouncy and strong. We wouldn't want a child to accidentally get hurt by his enthusiasm. Boris is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. However , he does not need a crate when unsupervised in the home. If you would like to offer Boris a forever home please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Duke. This handsome guy is an 8-year-old mostly beagle. It appears that he might have something else in his DNA, but his personality is all beagle! Duke is friendly and good-natured, but he just isn't getting the time and attention he deserves in his current home. Duke has been around a few different dogs and gotten along with all of them. His current home has another smaller dog who is much more energetic. He doesn't play with him very much and tolerates his spunk well. He does not currently live with children, but we think he would be fine with any human. There is nothing aggressive about him. We do think he is a cat chaser,--not to ... (Read More)harm them--he just wants to make it a game. Duke would love a home with a fenced yard where he can run and play safely. He has never had that, but has always longed to have a place to run off leash. If he isn't contained in a fence, he must be leashed or he will make those wishes to run free a reality. And catching him isn't an easy task. Duke is solidly housebroken and very crate trained. He spends most of his time in his XL crate condo and is well behaved. Duke doesn't really know any commands yet. However, we know that you can teach dogs of any age a new trick and with his food motivation it won't be much of a problem. Duke is microchipped, neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Jazmine. This super pretty girls in a 8-year-old German shepherd mix. Since we will likely be asked if we know what she is mixed with, we'll say upfront that we have no idea. We have guessed things like rottie. Truth be told she is probably mixed with an adorable mutt which made her the perfect mixed breed girl. Jazmine is pretty perfect. She is very friendly with everyone. She can get a little nervous in new places, but does warm up when she realizes that everyone around her is totally relaxed. Jazmine does great with cats and other dogs. She currently shares her home with both and enjoys their company, but she could also do well as ... (Read More)an only pet if she weren't left alone too much at one time. Jazmine has also been around children without issue. She is a really sweet, gentle soul who loves to be love, and just as much she loves to give love. Jazmine likes to go for walks as long as they aren't too long. Hiking and longer adventures probably wouldn't be her thing. She does well on car rides and has excellent house manners. Jazmine would love a forever home that will let her snuggle often. She would also appreciate regular brushings and someone who could turn a blind eye to all of that shepherd shedding. Jazmine is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is also housebroken and crate trained. The only thing left to tell is that Jazmine, although not obvious from this picture, has THE LONGEST TONGUE EVER. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-10-00556Cricket (female)

Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

eet Cricket. She is a petite, adorable mixed breed girl. The result of a quick poll of dog lovers has left us guessing that she might be Boston terrier/cattle dog mix. Of course there is a strong likelihood that she has 3 or 4 or more different breeds in her mix. Cricket is about 2 years old and weighs about 25 pounds. This sweetie is a bit shy to warm up to new people, but does adjust pretty quickly if you give her a little space from the start. After you're 'in', you're 'in' for good. Cricket does pretty well meeting new canine friends--some she likes better than others. She even likes to play for short intervals. However, Cricket does ... (Read More)not want to share her home with another dog. She would do best as an only pet. And because Cricket likes to take things at her own pace, we recommend older children who can understand that may get nervous about some new things. Speaking of nerves, Cricket takes a daily dose of Prozac that costs about $20 per month. This has helped reduce her worries about things such as being left home alone or being asked to do things that make her feel uncomfortable. She has been working with a behaviorist for the last several months and is now doing really, really well. Cricket walks well on leash and knows a few commands. She is quite the snuggle buddy if you don't mind sharing your bed--we know Cricket would love to have a forever home that would allow her to curl up at someone's feet at night. She also enjoys balls, tug toys and bones. Cricket is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and crate trained. Stepping Stone Animal Training will donate a couple of sessions to a local adopter to help Cricket adjust to her new home. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Blue. This 10-year-old pittie needs a fantastic retirement home where he can just chill. He has lived with one family his whole life, but when they were no longer giving him any attention including basic care, extended family stepped in to help while we searched for a foster or forever home. Blue is a very sweet, friendly boy who would prefer to spend his days with his people rather than in a crate. Blue has been raised with kids, cats, and dogs and does well with all three. He has lived with toddlers, but has also met younger kids without issue. He might sneak in a kiss or two but is always gentle. Blue had a dog buddy in his former ... He seems to get along with everyone--human, canine and feline. Blue is a low energy dog who is strong on leash, but does better with a harness. He likes to ride in the car and go where his people go. Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Adult

Although Ooma loves to go for walks, she would do best with a fenced in yard to help her get enough exercise while keep her safe. Ooma is very friendly with everyone and everything. She has lived with cats and has done great. Her former kitten friend was also a great snuggle buddy. Ooma is also very excited to meet new dogs. She is quite the social butterfly. Omma has lived with children of various ages and has done great--even with toddlers. Omma would like a home that can offer her walks and cuddle time in ... (Read More)equal amounts. She is a 60-pound snuggle buddy. Ooma knows a couple of commands and has come a long way since being adopted a year ago. We are guessing that she didn't have the most stellar beginning at life because too much chaos, loud noises or harsh voices make her pretty nervous. She is doing much better being out and about in public places these days. She has learned that these places give her a lot of attention, and of course she is on board with that. Ooma is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She is also housebroken and crate trained. Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cecil. This handsome guy is a 6-year-old beagle/Brittany spaniel mix who looks like a 30-pound St. Bernard mix at some angles. He has been with the same family since he was a pup and has been very loved and well-cared for, including regular health exams at the vet (his teeth look great!). Until the addition of a human sibling, Cecil had always enjoyed an active lifestyle that included frequent hikes and jogs. Now that the family's life has gotten a bit busier, Cecil isn't getting as much attention and isn't adjusting to the change. Cecil is friendly and happy, but he needs just a moment to warm up to new people, especially in a new ... (Read More)environment. Once he is comfortable he will politely ask for a back scratch. Cecil is quite cuddly with his people and likes to be near them when watching TV or hanging out on the couch. Besides the adventurous activities, this active guy also LOVES tennis balls. In fact, tennis balls are life in his book. Cecil has been raised with other dogs and has shared his home with another dog his whole life. He often snuggles up with his canine sister, but he doesn't really show much interest in playing with her, mostly because his aforementioned love of tennis balls. He could probably be fine as a single dog getting all of the attention or with another dog who isn't looking for someone to romp and wrestle with. Cecil has also been raised around dog-savvy children and has never been nippy. He has never shared his home with a cat, but with a slow introduction he would probably be fine. He has hung out with indoor bunnies and been just fine. Cecil is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is also solidly housebroken. Most people jump to the conclusion that he has been in a fighting ring, and that's just not the case. Salim is a lover, not a fighter, but he has unfortunately been attacked--hence the battle scars. Salim is a 1-year-old pit mix who weighs about 65 pounds (most of that is in his big ol' head). Salim's name means 'safe' in Arabic, and that's all we want this guy to be. When Salim was a puppy he had parvo and overcame that too; he is ... (Read More)resilient and tenacious. We know that there is a perfect home somewhere who will spoil him rotten. Salim is a cuddle baby with a fair amount of energy. He would love a home that enjoys cuddles and activity equally. Salim doesn't have great leash skills yet. However, he is treat motivated and will be fun to train. Salim does well with most dogs, but the attack from a while ago has rattled him some, but never where he is the aggressor. We do not know how he is with cats or small children. We think he would be fine with kids who are sturdy on their feet. Salim is housebroken and crate trained. He is also neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on shots, and microchipped. If you would like to help us help Salim please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $150 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-09-00340Tanner (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Tanner. Isn't he a good-looking boy? Tanner is a 4-year-old-ish German shepherd mix whose story is a little long and a little complicated. The summary is this: Tanner was found as a stray, his owner was located, but his owner no longer wanted him. The finder who had been caring for Tanner contacted us and asked for help. The best we could do was place him boarding until a foster or forever home came along. That's where things currently stand. We are asking for a foster or forever home so that this perfect guy can leave boarding. Tanner is very friendly, happy, and good-natured. He gets along with other dogs, but gets a little nervous ... (Read More)in play groups--not aggressive, just nervous. We don't know how Tanner is with kids or cats. As for kids, we think he would be great with anyone who wants to give him a lot of love and attention. We were told that Tanner had been tied to a shed his whole life. If that is in fact the case, he is incredibly well adjusted. He knows several commands and listens very well. However, he will chew his leash if you don't watch him, and maybe that's his way of saying he won't tolerate being tied up anymore. It might also explain how he ended up as a stray. Tanner is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He was solidly housebroken at the finder's home and keeps his kennel perfectly clean. Someone somewhere loved this boy and taught him a lot. If you are interested in meeting Tanner please complete a required adoption application on our website. This is the first step of the adoption process. If Tanner's ad is still listed, then we are still reviewing applications. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Tanner's adoption fee is $150. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00141Brad Pitt (male)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We might have to change this guy's name. When he first came to PawSwaP as a puppy, he looked like a pit mix pup with unique markings. Now that he has matured into a handsome young man, we see that he really isn't pit after all, but more likely American bulldog. Let us reintroduce to the guy we call Brad Pit. We'll keep the name for simplicity sake, even if it may no longer be the best suited for him. This ultra handsome guy is a 1-year-old amazing dog who was a stray, but found love and a foster home with the very people who rescued him. He is now a young adult and weighs about 70 pounds. Brad is a very friendly guy who loves making new ... (Read More)human friends. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, a big smile and a little bounce. When Brad was first found, he was emaciated and stressed. He had a brief encounter with another dog who isn't awesome with other dogs. Brad's reaction worried the foster family that he may not like other dogs. Last week, we consulted a behaviorist about Brad to figure out what kind of home he would succeed in. Well, come to find out, Brad loves other dogs! He loves to play and would do great with an active Buddy who isn't overly dominant. He showed no signs of aggression and was really relaxed even when a herd of dogs was barking at him begging for his attention. As for cats, this appears to be an extremely new concept for him. He will need to be guided around appropriate play with a kitty. He kind of wants to tackle a cat the way he does other dogs. We're guessing that most cats won't love that play style. Brad is fine with kids; just keep in mind that he a is a big boy who sometimes forgets his size. Not only is Brad fun and funny, he is also a lovable baby. He is cuddly and sweet. He loves to play with his tennis ball. He is also very well trained. he knows several commands and listens very well. His ideal home will love him bunches and continue the training the finders have started. Brad is super smart and loves to learn, especially when treats are involved. Brad is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. He is perfect little boy. If you would like to offer Brad a forever home please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-30-00284Peaches (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Peaches. We really think just the right picture will make a difference in getting a dog adopted. In all honesty, this is probably not *the* picture for this super duper adorable dog. Peaches is a 4-year-old pittie mix. She is squatty, wrinkly and has a head bigger than the rest of her body--just the way we like it. She is so cute. Peaches was a stray who ended up at IACS (formerly IACC). She was tested with dogs and didn't do well which meant she was deemed "rescue only". Well, not many people are looking for a pittie mix who doesn't like other dogs (or cats) and no rescues came forward. We were hesitant too. A fantastic ... (Read More)foster offered to take Peaches and give her a great temporary home. Of course we couldn't say no. Peaches is so wonderful with people. She is very friendly and loves young and old equally. Like we said above, she does need to be an only pet in the home though. She is a little strong on leash (Easy Walk harness is helpful). Otherwise, she is a well-behaved and a doll to share a home with. Peaches is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and quiet in her crate. Minus the aversion to other animals, Peaches is perfection. If you are interested in meeting Peaches, please complete the adoption application in the link below. This is the first step in the adoption process. Be sure to include on the application any questions you have. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. Peaches' adoption fee is $150. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-19-00131Solana (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Solana. This sweet girl can be added to our list of great saves. She, along with two others, was given a given a deadline at IACC to either find rescue or be put to sleep. As awful as it sounds, sometimes large-intake shelters have to make awful choices when they get bombarded with strays and owner surrenders. When there is no place for the dogs to go, what other choices do they have? We get it and try to help when we can. Solana was definitely worth the save! Solana is a two-year-old pittie mix. She is a compact girl with a lot of strength in her little body. She weighs 45 pounds. We can tell she has something else non-bully in her ... (Read More)mix, but we aren't sure what. Maybe Jack Russell? Anyway, we love Solana and her friendly playful spirit. She is a total sweetheart who makes friends quickly. She was abandoned in her home for several days before she was found. She was scared and very thin. You would never know by her awesome spirit--she is happy, bouncy playful, and always ready for snuggles. Solana loves having a canine companionship. She is deaf and might feel comforted having another dog to read body language and cues about her surroundings. Solana does not do well with cats. We could see Solana in a home with children who are steady on their feet. She get a little bouncy when she's extra excited. Solana is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken, but not crate trained. Well, she can go into a crate, but absolutely hates it. At her foster home she is confined to one room and does great. She will need more work on commands. It's a little tough because of her deafness. Simply giving a verbal command won't cut it. We are working on hand cues with er and want her forever family to do the same. Please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting if you are interested in meeting Solana. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-17-00531Boss (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Boss. He is one of the most affectionate, handsome 3 year old boys you will ever meet. He is very medium and weighs in at around 50 pounds. Boss does well with an easy walk harness during walks, but does want to pull towards the action and can use some more work on leash manners. Boss loves to be with his people, whether its laying on the couch or being active and playing. He will settle down and go in his crate with no problems. Boss has started have some issues with anxiety and is currently taking medication to help with his transition from foster home to a new home. Some of this anxiety seems to be around the other pet in the some. ... (Read More)He is not destructive nad this medication is intended to be temporary and only costs about $10 a month. Boss is potty trained, as well. Boss was originally found as a stray and placed on the euthanasia list because he was suffering from ringworm which was treated once he came into our program and it is now a distant memory. Pawswap agreed to help him, because that is no reason to let a wonderful dog lose his life. Boss underwent several rounds of expensive medication and treatment. Boss was successfully fostered in a loving home but has recently started to have issues with the other dog in the home and they have found that Boss is not a huge fan of children. His temporary mom is now expecting. Hence the need for a new adoptive or foster home for Boss. Boss does warm up to strangers in his home slowly. He is very protective of his people and they appreciate that fact, but his fosters must put Boss in another room when company arrives. It is likely, this will have to continue for him. Boss is up to date on his shots, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm negative. Ideally, we are looking for a home with adults only, a fenced yard, and no other pets. If you can provide Boss with a temporary foster home, are interested in adopting, or have any questions, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)
