Rescue Me ID: 17-08-06-00071Rambo (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rambo. You would never expect this gentle, loving 6 year old, 60 pound boy was a victim of very sad and neglectful past. Rambo is a mix of breeds, likely a combination of Golden Retriever and shepherd. Rambo loves to cuddle with his humans and is eager to please. He already knows some commands including sit and shake. Rambo's coat is getting softer and prettier every day. He will be going in for a professional groom which will make him even more handsome than he already is. Rambo gets along with some dogs, but would be fine as an only dog in his forever home. We are unsure how he does with cats. We would recommend a home with older ... (Read More)children who know how to be gentle. Rambo has done very well with keeping his kennel clean, but will take a bit of guidance and a schedule in his new home. We have no doubt he will catch on quickly. Rambo is crate trained. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and heartworm negative. If you can help us help Rambo and foster or are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $125. Rescue Me ID: 17-08-01-00212Stella (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Stella. This pretty Pittie is a 1 year-old baby girl who loves playtime and snuggle time equally. She is very friendly and happy once she has warmed up, but initially she can be hesitant around strangers, especially men. After she knows she is safe, she is ready to play with anyone willing to throw a ball or stick. Stella does well with other dogs. She is a wrestle-type player and would do well with a similar playmate. She was tested with cats and was completely disinterested. The feel from the cats was mutual. We don't know if she would chase a cat that runs or not, but our guess is that she would want to play. Stella would do well ... (Read More)with older kids who can handle her jumping with excitement when you first come home and during playtime. Stella would do best in an active home where she can enjoy exercise and snuggle time. She knows how to sit on command, but will need work with other party tricks. Her leash manners are decent especially after the first few minutes of her getting into the groove. Stella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken and well behaved in her kennel. Her adoption fee is $175. If you are interested in meeting Stella, then please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the required first step of the adoption process.     Meet Jax. This guy is absolutely perfect. He is a 1.5-year-old pit/dalmatian mix as best as we can guess. Jax is very friendly and such a good boy. He gets along with everyone and is the sweetest, cuddliest boy. Jax is is full of energy and tons of love for his family. He is a perfect medium guy who weighs about 45 pounds. Jax is well-behaved and loves to play. He gets along great with other dogs and is always up for a game of tag. He is an energetic playmate which may not suit all other dogs. Jax takes corrections from other dogs (and humans) without issue. He has never, ever been aggressive with anyone. In fact, Jax is great with kids ... (Read More)too. When not playing, Jax is ready to hang out and bury his nose under a blanket. Jax is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tommy is an 8-month-old mixed breed pup. He appears to have some husky or maybe shepherd in his mix. It really is just a guess at this point. He weighs about 40 pounds and won't likely be more than 50 pounds. Tommy is a sweet, loving, gentle soul who is somewhat shy, but really blossoming lately. He is very affectionate and cuddly too. He has been raised around kids, cats, and dogs and loves them all. In fact, Tommy would do best placed in a home that has at least one other playful dog and that is a requirement. Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Karlee. This pretty girl is an 8-year-old husky mix and is absolutely stunning. Karlee is a sweet girl who is looking for a doting, patient family who will love her for exactly who she is. Karlee can be a little anxious at times and paces quite a bit. She is almost always walking around with her tongue hanging way out--we just happened to catch her at the right moment where only part of her tongue can be seen. Although most people associate anxiety with destruction, this is not the case with Karlee. She has been free to roam the unsupervised for many years without issue. Karlee has been raised with another dog and some of her stress ... (Read More)could be associated with the loss of the other pet. However, Karlee doesn't seem to want to be around other animals anymore. She tolerates them fine, but isn't looking to be buddies. She currently lives with a cat, but Karlee stays clear of her whenever possible. Karlee is inexperienced with children. Teenagers who know how to go slow with introductions would be fine. An ideal home for Karlee would give her plenty of exercise. She once had a yard to run around in, but is now confined to a tie out and then comes right back in. Since this change, Karlee has packed on some weight. She is also currently left alone for long periods of time, something she hasn't always had to deal with. All in all, Karlee just wants to be loved and to have special person in her life who will spoil her. Karlee is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated. If you would like to meet Karlee please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Pete. Anyone looking to share their home with a super handsome smile will love Pete. He is an almost-1-year-old lab mix. He's a perfect medium, weighing about 40 pounds--ideal for those adopters looking for something not too big and not too small. Pete is happy, friendly and full of energy. He would love to get regular exercise and be someone's bestest buddy. Pete has grown up with other dogs. He would do great as a dog buddy for another energetic dog or even as an only pet as long as he had opportunities to run and play. Pete has also been raised with a cat. He does fine, but is sometimes tempted to try to get the kitty to play. Any ... (Read More)cats in his life must love dogs. Pete has also been raised around young children. Although he is a pretty spunky pup at times, he has always been good with the children in his home. Pete would love to be a typical lab and play in a yard with a bunch of tennis balls. He would also love a home where he can continue to snuggle often and maybe even sleep in bed. This handsome boy will make a great companion for anyone wanting a dog who loves his people 100%. Rescue Me ID: 17-08-01-00186Leo (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Leo. This affectionate, snuggley boy is a 3-year-old shepherd mix. He probably has a few breeds in his mix, but we just can't tease them all out. His unique look with a somewhat longer body and a naturally stubby tail make him incredibly cute--oh gosh, how could we almost forget to mention those ears! He weighs about 45 pounds and is a perfect medium size. Leo can be a little shy at first, but once he knows he's safe, he is very loving and very much a Velcro dog. Leo has been raised with his own family including his girlfriend (now in a home) and their two pups (both up for adoption.) He craves other dog attention and must be placed ... (Read More)in a home with another friendly dog, preferably one who wouldn't mind his cuddles. If someone were interested in two dogs, Leo and his son Tux do great together. Leo has also been around cats. He doesn't pay much attention to them overall. We think Leo would do fine with gentle children. He has met kids and been fine, but he has never lived with them. Leo is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is also solidly housebroken. Leo has never been crated, but does well being confined to a room of the house. If you would like to meet Leo please complete an adoption application on our website. We will only consider homes for Leo that have another canine. His adoption fee is $175. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed

Meet Maddie. This scruffy girl is a 10-year-old mixed breed sweetheart, probably a schnauzer mix. Maddie is petite and only weighs about 20 pounds. We know that adopting a dog that is older is not for everyone, but Maddie is absolutely not a pitiful senior--she is active, playful, and shows no signs of slowing down. Maddie greets everyone with excitement. She can get a little bouncy and will be in your lap instantly if allowed. She has been raised around children and occasionally meets new kids with the same level of enthusiasm. She has also been around other dogs and cats in the past, but seems to be most content as an only pet where she ... (Read More)can be the center of her people's universe. Maddie is looking for a family who will give her a balanced life of walks and cuddles. She is well-behaved in the house and will follow her people most everywhere. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Remington or Remy for short. This super handsome boy is a 1-year-old hound/lab mix pup who loves life. He has that goofy, funny hound baby way at times. However, the lab in him is also obvious with his exurberance and playful nature. Remy gets along with other dogs well and would probably do best with another dog or an active family. He is medium-high-ish energy, although not really hyper. As long as he gets regular exercise, Remy is a great, even-keeled dog. Remy has also been around children and does great.     Meet Cleo. This pretty girl is a 4-year-old Rottweiler. She is so super adorable although a little pudgy weighing in at about 90 pounds. She is such a sweet, friendly girl and deserves a wonderful forever home. Cleo has been raised around other dogs and has even enjoyed being part of play groups. However, most recently she has mostly spent time with one special dog buddy. Cleo has not been around cats. Cleo is great with children but would do best around older children. Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rigatoni. This handsome boy is a sweet, gentle Great Pyrenees mix who was stray in a neighboring county with Fettuccine (also available), whom we think might be his mom. Due to the emergent situation with harsh weather, we put the dogs in boarding to keep them safe and to wait for their family to claim them. It never happened. Rigatoni is about 2 years old and weighs about 85 pounds. He is the epitome of a gentle giant. Just like Fettuccine, Rigatoni really loves attention from his people, but he also has an independent side where he can entertain himself. He is particularly interested in exploring the great outdoors--he must, however, ... (Read More)be safely contained in a fenced yard! Rigatoni gets along with other dogs and wouldn't mind a play buddy. He seems to ignore cats, especially ones that ignore him. Rigatoni's finders had children who played with him while he waited to be rescued. He doesn't know much about toys, but he is starting to show interest in tennis balls and sticks. Rigatoni is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. He keeps his kennel spotless and is well behaved in his kennel. We think he has had experience being confined in his previously life. If you would like to meet Rigatoni, please complete an application in the link below. Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Fettuccine. This is a pretty girl with a very charming personality. She is pretty low-key, docile and a lover of attention. Fettuccine and Rigatoni (also available for adoption) were found in a neighboring county wandering all alone. After several days and no one local able to help, we placed both dogs in boarding to keep them safe while we searched for their family--no one ever came to claim them. Fettuccine is a gorgeous 4-year-old Great Pyrenees mix or so we think. She is a bit chunky and currently weighs 75 pounds. We think 65 might be more ideal for her. Fettuccine is always happy, always smiling, and always by your side. She does ... (Read More)love to explore a fenced in yard, but cannot be trusted off leash when not properly contained. This pretty girl gets along with everyone. She has met a few dogs while with us and has done great. She has ignored the older, inactive cats she has met. We aren't sure what she would do with one that really likes to run. She might chase, but she is so gentle that we can't imagine her ever being aggressive. Fettuccine met children when she was originally found and did great chasing sticks the kids tossed for her and Rigatoni.     Meet Juniper. This pretty girl came to us as a stray whose family was never found she was terrified at first, but now she is a happy, silly, funny, squirrely little girl. juniper is about 1 year old and is a lab mix. She appears to be mostly lab but there is a little something else in her mix. She weighs about 45 pounds and won't likely get any bigger. Juniper loves to play with tennis balls, other dogs and with kids. It's hard to categorize her energy. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-28-00203Max looking for love (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It has been awhile since we posted Max. We have received a few nibbles, but nothing has been the right fit. When a dog stays in any program for a long time, potential adopters start to think that there is something wrong with the dog--he or she is broken. In Max's case he has a couple of specific requirements, but is other wise one of the sweetest and funniest guys we have had in the program. Here's everything you need to know about him. Our most handsome guy has quite the history. Max is a 2-year-old golden retriever/husky mix who bounced around to a few homes before he became a PawSwaP dog. Once in our program we had to test a couple of ... (Read More)homes before we learned what kind of home would best suit his needs. Last year we thought we had found just the right home to accommodate some of the emotional scars that remain from his rough beginning. Unfortunately, the environment was the fit we had hoped for. Let's start with everything that is awesome about Max. Max is a very sweet, loving, affectionate guy who is very loyal and trusting of his people. He used to need a little time to warm up to strangers, but this seems to have improved quite a bit.He loves to cuddle and be loved on, but he isn't a pest. He can also chill out at your feet and entertain himself with a ball. Max is also tons of fun to play with and is pretty comical when he gets in the right mood. Max has also attended a couple of training classes where he learned leash skills and numerous commands. Max is very smart and loves to be rewarded for good behavior. He is also food motivated and willing to learn new things as much as anyone will work with him. Although he has had quite a bit of training Max is still learning. Max has shared a home with older children and has been successful. We would not recommend a home with smaller children. And here's what makes Max a tough placement. First and foremost, Max must be an only pet in his forever home. He is not good with cats nor dogs, and if given the opportunity, Max will chase both. For this reason, Max MUST have a fenced yard. Max's other issue his separation anxiety. He cannot live in an apartment because he barks as soon as he is left alone. He does eventually settle in, but it takes awhile and in the meantime could annoy neighbors sharing a common wall. Max also struggles in crates, but needs to be crated when unsupervised. It takes a little work to make him feel secure, but he does get the hang of it after some practice and has been crated in his past homes, he just doesn't love it. Max is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and is very well behaved when supervised. Max is currently on Prozac which seems to have really helped with the separation and anxiety and his confinement issues. He really is a relaxed, regular guy these days. If you think you can offer Max a fantastic foster or forever home please complete a required application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Max will need a fenced yard and a home with no other pets. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Frasier. This is one cute little dude. He is 3-year-old mixed breed guy who has a lot of spunk. Your guess is as good as ours as far as breeds go. Something medium and adorable is all we can say. Frasier is a smart, playful guy who would love to have an active owner who will give all of the attention he needs. Frasier is friendly with people and will especially bond with anyone offering him a toy. He has blast with balls and pull toys. He does really well with other dogs, but can get frustrated with dogs who don't listen to their owners. In other words, he polices other dogs' obedience. He is a smart cookie and likes to learn new ... (Read More)things. Hopefully he will find an awesome family who will continue with the training he has already started. He's pretty decent on leash and would make a good running buddy. Frasier doesn't trust little kids, but would be fine with older kids. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-03-00182Makenzie (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Makenzie. This pretty girl is just as sweet as she in unique. She is a 2-year-old basset/pit mix, maybe a basspit hound. Get it? Makenzie can be a little shy at first and is generally submissive-- she rolls over and shows her belly to any person and any dog. She has NEVER been aggressive with anything, but does enjoy chasing cats. Makenzie had some slight physical developmental delays when she was a pup due to her needing casts on her front legs. During this critical time she wasn't able to be taken outside regularly for potty breaks. This put her behind the curve in terms of housetraining. She is doing much better these days, but ... (Read More)will have an occasional accident. This is probably her one and only flaw. Makenzie has been raised around other dogs. She does great with everyone of all sizes, but she would probably also be fine as an only pet. Makenzie is also sweet and gentle with kids. She may not love to be around a bunch of rowdy kids, but hanging out and being loved would be right up her alley. Makenzie is so loving and snuggly--all 58 pounds of her. The more love she cant get, the better. She knows some basic commands and does well on leash. She is super treat motivated and is ready to learn anything you teach her. Makenzie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is well behaved in her crate and mostly housetrained (see note above). If you would like to offer Makenzie a forever home, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-01-00081Royal (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Royal. There are fewer sweethearts in this world than this handsome guy. He is friendly to all and always happy. And when you are with him, you have to be happy too---he makes sure of it. Royal is a 3-year-old pittie mix who weighs about 50 pounds. He is a fairly high energy guy who loves to run and play. Royal gets along with other dogs, but he isn't much of a rumble-tumble/wrestling kind of guy. At most he wants to run along with another dog and can co-exist in a home environment just fine. That being said, Royal prefers to be with people and to play with people over other canines. He loves rope toys, but also plays with balls. ... (Read More)Royal could live in a home with cats as long as he is monitored. He will chase cats that run unless he is corrected. Thankfully he takes correction well and will back off as soon as he is told to leave it. Royal has spent the last year with children as young as 5 years old . He is friendly and gentle with kids, but his energy is sometimes more than some young kids want to deal with. Royal is a cuddle baby when he isn't running. Part of that comes from his stellar personality, but part of that is because this guy is always cold! Poor Royal as a naturally thin coat than makes him very sensitive to weather. When the temps drop below 50 degrees, Royal wears a coat to stay warm. Royal is a bit strong on leash. We always recommend an Easy Walk harness or similar for dogs who have a tendency to tug on leash. Otherwise, Royal is well mannered and knows some basic commands. Royal is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. If you would like to offer Royal a forever home please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions directly on the application. Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Reggie. This handsome guy with the best ears is a 5-year-old Catahoula mix. Reggie is a sweet, sweet boy who loves to cuddle and meet new people. He often looks way more serious than he really is--Reggie can be very playful and silly too. Reggie is currently fostered with other dogs and does great. There is one dog that is probably too similar in personality that he doesn't jive well with. In general he needs a slow introduction and then warms up pretty quickly after that. He ignores cats completely. Of course the ones he has been around have also ignored him too. Reggie hasn't had much experience with small children, so we would ... (Read More)recommend kids 10+ just to be on the safe side. Although Reggie is a snuggle baby, he also loves to run and play in the back yard with his other dog buddies. Depending on the day or mood, Reggie might be considered a medium-high energy kind of guy. In his forever home, where he will be able to get a little more individualized attention, we suspect that he will be a little more low key. Reggie is decent on leash and rides well in the car. Reggie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and well behaved in his crate. If you would like to offer Reggie a forever home please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-10-00556Cricket (female)

Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

eet Cricket. She is a petite, adorable mixed breed girl. The result of a quick poll of dog lovers has left us guessing that she might be Boston terrier/cattle dog mix. Of course there is a strong likelihood that she has 3 or 4 or more different breeds in her mix. Cricket is about 2 years old and weighs about 25 pounds. This sweetie is a bit shy to warm up to new people, but does adjust pretty quickly if you give her a little space from the start. After you're 'in', you're 'in' for good. Cricket does pretty well meeting new canine friends--some she likes better than others. She even likes to play for short intervals. However, Cricket does ... (Read More)not want to share her home with another dog. She would do best as an only pet. And because Cricket likes to take things at her own pace, we recommend older children who can understand that may get nervous about some new things. Speaking of nerves, Cricket takes a daily dose of Prozac that costs about $20 per month. This has helped reduce her worries about things such as being left home alone or being asked to do things that make her feel uncomfortable. She has been working with a behaviorist for the last several months and is now doing really, really well. Cricket walks well on leash and knows a few commands. She is quite the snuggle buddy if you don't mind sharing your bed--we know Cricket would love to have a forever home that would allow her to curl up at someone's feet at night. She also enjoys balls, tug toys and bones. Cricket is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and crate trained. Stepping Stone Animal Training will donate a couple of sessions to a local adopter to help Cricket adjust to her new home. If you would like to meet Cricket please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $175 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00261Noella (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Noella. No matter which picture we thought about posting, Noella looks like a medium sized dog. We're not sure what is so deceiving, but this girl is a 6-year-old chihuahua/Jack Russell terrier mix and weighs about 15 pounds. Her mesmerizing blue eye catches your attention, but her personality will steal your heart. This little girl has the lap dog desires of a small dog, but the readiness for exploring outdoors like a big dog. She's the best of both worlds. Noella lived the first part of her life child free and since the addition of two kids, she can get stressed out. She has never bitten, but does sometimes low growl to warn kids ... (Read More)when the petting is too much. On the other hand she does sometimes choose to lay right in between the kids just to hang out. We think older, more predictable kids who know how to be gentle would be ideal for her. Noella has not been raised with other dogs besides the one other dog in her home. She would do best as an only dog in her new home. Noella does not like cats. Noella knows a few commands and has great house manners. She is trustworthy in the home without a crate and has been for many years. Noella also loves to ride in the car and run around off leash--she would best be suited for a home with a fenced yard. If she does go for a walk, she walks well on leash. She loves to sunbathe and to play with squeaky toys too. Noella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken. If she has to be left alone for extended periods of time, she will also use potty pads. If you would like to meet Noella please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00202Piper (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Piper. This adorable girl is an 11-year-old rat terrier/Jack Russell terrier mix. Piper is a sweetheart, but has not done well adjusting to children in the family. For this reason she is looking for a calm retirement home where she can sunbathe in the day and cuddle at night. We understand that there are challenges when looking for adopters for a senior dog, but we are confident that someone will love to have little Piper to hang out with to watch TV or to take on walks. Piper is still a spunky, spry girl who also still loves squeaky toys. She knows a few commands and is very well behaved in the home. When left alone Piper likes to ... (Read More)watch DogTV to pass the time. Adding to Piper's challenges is her desire to be an only pet. She has lived several years with Noella (also up for adoption) but has never really spent much time with other dogs. When she does encounter other dogs she mostly ignores them. She is quite the cat and other small critter chaser, so we think a home without cats would be best. And as we mentioned above, Piper would prefer no small children. She is a little cat-like in terms of being pet. When she wants attention she'll let you know. She does sometimes go to the kids for affection, but she gets annoyed when they pet too long or too hard. Piper is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated. If you would like to meet Piper please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $125. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Roux. This pretty girl will steal your heart. She is such a sweet, gentle, loving soul. Her only issue is that she has decided that living with other dogs stresses her out. For this reason, Roux is looking for a new forever home where she can take center stage and be loved as much as she deserves. Roux is a 4-year-old cattle dog mix. What is she mixed with? We don't really know. She was found with her litter mates as pups without either parent present. Roux weighs about 50 pounds and has longer legs than your typical cattle dog. Whatever the mix is, it has created a stunning beauty. Roux loves all humans, but hasn't really ever been ... (Read More)around children. Older children would be fine. Younger children *might* be fine too, but we aren't much for taking risks, so we will say the kids should be 7-ish years old or older. As we mentioned above, Roux does not want to live with other dogs. She can walk past them on leash without issue; she just doesn't want to share her space with other canines. We do not know how she is with cats. Roux is pretty medium energy. She does like to go for walks, but isn't much up for long car rides. Her favorite thing to do is to go running through the fenced in yard. Some days that's all of the exercise she needs. When she is in the house she is calm and loves to cuddle in your lap. Roux is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken. She has not been crated since she was a puppy and is trustworthy when unsupervised. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Salim. This handsome guy with the giant noggin gets a lot of attention for all of the wrong reasons. Of course his good looks do turn a bunch of heads, but so do the scars on his head, face, and legs. Most people jump to the conclusion that he has been in a fighting ring, and that's just not the case. Salim is a lover, not a fighter, but he has unfortunately been attacked--hence the battle scars. Salim is a 1-year-old pit mix who weighs about 65 pounds (most of that is in his big ol' head). Salim's name means 'safe' in Arabic, and that's all we want this guy to be. When Salim was a puppy he had parvo and overcame that too; he is ... (Read More)resilient and tenacious. We know that there is a perfect home somewhere who will spoil him rotten. Salim is a cuddle baby with a fair amount of energy. He would love a home that enjoys cuddles and activity equally. Salim doesn't have great leash skills yet. However, he is treat motivated and will be fun to train. Salim does well with most dogs, but the attack from a while ago has rattled him some, but never where he is the aggressor. We do not know how he is with cats or small children. We think he would be fine with kids who are sturdy on their feet. Salim is housebroken and crate trained. He is also neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on shots, and microchipped.
