Rescue Me ID: 17-07-03-00091Grover (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Urgent!! Adoption fee waived for an appropriate, loving home. *No other Pets - PItbulls must be allowed on Lease Meet Grover. This sweet boy is an A+ personality with a constant smile and friendly disposition. He is 10-12-month-old pointer/pittie mix who is a perfect medium size weighing about 45 pounds. Grover was a stray who wasn't claimed, and we don't understand why. He is such a good boy! Grover loves his people and loves to be where they are when possible. He is medium energy and not at all obnoxious. He is just now learning about toys. He likes to watch balls bounce and is fascinated if you throw a stick, but he isn't sure what to ... (Read More)do with it. He is also not familiar with treats as rewards. He does sit on command though--his motivation is pleasing his people. Grover has met a few dogs; some he has liked and other he didn't. We think he wants to play, but has never had the opportunity to learn how. The same goes for cats. We think for now he is best as an only pet. Grover loves kids who know how to behave around dogs. Grover has never been anything but super sweet with the humans we have introduced him to. Grover's adoption includes his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test and microchip. He appears to be housebroken and is calm. He has never shown any tendency towards being destructive and isn't a heavy chewer. If you would like to meet Grover, please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions you have directly on the application. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. Grover's adoption fee is waived to an appropriate home. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.html (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-03-00089Rigatoni (female)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rigatoni. This handsome boy is a sweet, gentle Great Pyrenees mix who was stray in a neighboring county with Fettuccine (also available), whom we think might be his mom. Due to the emergent situation with harsh weather, we put the dogs in boarding to keep them safe and to wait for their family to claim them. It never happened. Rigatoni is about 2 years old and weighs about 85 pounds. He is the epitome of a gentle giant. Just like Fettuccine, Rigatoni really loves attention from his people, but he also has an independent side where he can entertain himself. He is particularly interested in exploring the great outdoors--he must, however, ... (Read More)be safely contained in a fenced yard! Rigatoni gets along with other dogs and wouldn't mind a play buddy. He seems to ignore cats, especially ones that ignore him. Rigatoni's finders had children who played with him while he waited to be rescued. He doesn't know much about toys, but he is starting to show interest in tennis balls and sticks. Rigatoni is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. He keeps his kennel spotless and is well behaved in his kennel. We think he has had experience being confined in his previously life. If you would like to meet Rigatoni, please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions you have directly on the application. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-03-00088Fettuccine (female)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Fettuccine. This is a pretty girl with a very charming personality. She is pretty low-key, docile and a lover of attention. Fettuccine and Rigatoni (also available for adoption) were found in a neighboring county wandering all alone. After several days and no one local able to help, we placed both dogs in boarding to keep them safe while we searched for their family--no one ever came to claim them. Fettuccine is a gorgeous 4-year-old Great Pyrenees mix or so we think. She is a bit chunky and currently weighs 75 pounds. We think 65 might be more ideal for her. Fettuccine is always happy, always smiling, and always by your side. She does ... (Read More)love to explore a fenced in yard, but cannot be trusted off leash when not properly contained. This pretty girl gets along with everyone. She has met a few dogs while with us and has done great. She has ignored the older, inactive cats she has met. We aren't sure what she would do with one that really likes to run. She might chase, but she is so gentle that we can't imagine her ever being aggressive. Fettuccine met children when she was originally found and did great chasing sticks the kids tossed for her and Rigatoni. Fettuccine is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She keeps her kennel perfectly clean and is well behaved when confined. If you would like to meet Fettuccine, please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions you have directly on the application. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. Fettuccine's adoption fee is $175. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.html (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Juniper. This pretty girl came to us as a stray whose family was never found she was terrified at first, but now she is a happy, silly, funny, squirrely little girl. juniper is about 1 year old and is a lab mix. She appears to be mostly lab but there is a little something else in her mix. She weighs about 45 pounds and won't likely get any bigger. Juniper loves to play with tennis balls, other dogs and with kids. It's hard to categorize her energy. She loves to run zoomies and be a bit goofy, but she will also calm down and lay at your feet with her tennis ball. She is a super fun dog with a great personality. She doesn't seem at all ... (Read More)interested in cats, but we can expect that she would play with a cat if a cat wanted to play with her. Juniper is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is excellent at keeping her kennel clean. She is also very cooperative going in and out of her kennel. She acts like she has done this before. If you would like to meet Juniper, please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions you have directly on the application. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-02-00080Segher (male)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered

Meet Segher. Oh how we love this guy. Segher is a 1-year-old Great Pyrenees mix. He has the double-dew claw and a basic GP look, but clearly he is a mix. We are guessing he might have some shepherd in him. He is currently a little thin and weighs about 65 pounds. Segher is a such a great guy although, from what we hear, he has not had the best start in life. Segher was found at an abandoned property where neighbors were feeding him for weeks. Eventually, a kind person stepped up, got him to safety and contacted us. Segher is a very friendly, happy guy. We say this often and we really mean it. He didn't need any time to warm up to us. He ... (Read More)loves to give kisses and to cuddle with his people. He does know to sit on command and knows not to jump. He will be easy to train once he gets into his forever home--treats are very motivating! Sehgher does well with other dogs. He has recently made friends with a husky, but seems to like everyone equally. Segher has met a couple of cats without incident. They ust laid there, he looked, and then moved on. They didn't react and he didn't care. We would also trust Segher around children. In fact, he might enjoy playing in a yard with a kids. He doesn't know much about toys yet, but I am sure he will get the hang of it soon. Segher is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested and microchipped. He does have a scrape on his nose that was there when he came to us. It is healing nicely and already looks better than in the pictures. While in boarding Seghers keeps his kennel perfectly clean. He is also well behaved in his kennel and has not been destructive. If you would like to meet Segher, please complete an application in the link below. Please include any questions you have directly on the application. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-28-00203Max looking for love (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It has been awhile since we posted Max. We have received a few nibbles, but nothing has been the right fit. When a dog stays in any program for a long time, potential adopters start to think that there is something wrong with the dog--he or she is broken. In Max's case he has a couple of specific requirements, but is other wise one of the sweetest and funniest guys we have had in the program. Here's everything you need to know about him. Our most handsome guy has quite the history. Max is a 2-year-old golden retriever/husky mix who bounced around to a few homes before he became a PawSwaP dog. Once in our program we had to test a couple of ... (Read More)homes before we learned what kind of home would best suit his needs. Last year we thought we had found just the right home to accommodate some of the emotional scars that remain from his rough beginning. Unfortunately, the environment was the fit we had hoped for. Let's start with everything that is awesome about Max. Max is a very sweet, loving, affectionate guy who is very loyal and trusting of his people. He used to need a little time to warm up to strangers, but this seems to have improved quite a bit.He loves to cuddle and be loved on, but he isn't a pest. He can also chill out at your feet and entertain himself with a ball. Max is also tons of fun to play with and is pretty comical when he gets in the right mood. Max has also attended a couple of training classes where he learned leash skills and numerous commands. Max is very smart and loves to be rewarded for good behavior. He is also food motivated and willing to learn new things as much as anyone will work with him. Although he has had quite a bit of training Max is still learning. Max has shared a home with older children and has been successful. We would not recommend a home with smaller children. And here's what makes Max a tough placement. First and foremost, Max must be an only pet in his forever home. He is not good with cats nor dogs, and if given the opportunity, Max will chase both. For this reason, Max MUST have a fenced yard. Max's other issue his separation anxiety. He cannot live in an apartment because he barks as soon as he is left alone. He does eventually settle in, but it takes awhile and in the meantime could annoy neighbors sharing a common wall. Max also struggles in crates, but needs to be crated when unsupervised. It takes a little work to make him feel secure, but he does get the hang of it after some practice and has been crated in his past homes, he just doesn't love it. Max is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and is very well behaved when supervised. Max is currently on Prozac which seems to have really helped with the separation and anxiety and his confinement issues. He really is a relaxed, regular guy these days. If you think you can offer Max a fantastic foster or forever home please complete a required application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Max will need a fenced yard and a home with no other pets. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-28-00186Piper (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Piper. This adorable girl is an 11-year-old rat terrier/Jack Russell terrier mix. Piper is a sweetheart, but has not done well adjusting to children in the family. For this reason she is looking for a calm retirement home where she can sunbathe in the day and cuddle at night. We understand that there are challenges when looking for adopters for a senior dog, but we are confident that someone will love to have little Piper to hang out with to watch TV or to take on walks. Piper is still a spunky, spry girl who also still loves squeaky toys. She knows a few commands and is very well behaved in the home. When left alone Piper likes to ... (Read More)watch DogTV to pass the time. Adding to Piper's challenges is her desire to be an only pet. She has lived several years with Noella (also up for adoption) but has never really spent much time with other dogs. When she does encounter other dogs she mostly ignores them. She is quite the cat and other small critter chaser, so we think a home without cats would be best. And as we mentioned above, Piper would prefer no small children. She is a little cat-like in terms of being pet. When she wants attention she'll let you know. She does sometimes go to the kids for affection, but she gets annoyed when they pet too long or too hard. Piper is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated. If you would like to meet Piper please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $125. (Less)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Noella. No matter which picture we thought about posting, Noella looks like a medium sized dog. We're not sure what is so deceiving, but this girl is a 6-year-old chihuahua/Jack Russell terrier mix and weighs about 15 pounds. Her mesmerizing blue eye catches your attention, but her personality will steal your heart. This little girl has the lap dog desires of a small dog, but the readiness for exploring outdoors like a big dog. She's the best of both worlds. Noella lived the first part of her life child free and since the addition of two kids, she can get stressed out. She has never bitten, but does sometimes low growl to warn kids ... (Read More)when the petting is too much. On the other hand she does sometimes choose to lay right in between the kids just to hang out. We think older, more predictable kids who know how to be gentle would be ideal for her. Noella has not been raised with other dogs besides the one other dog in her home. She would do best as an only dog in her new home. Noella does not like cats. Noella knows a few commands and has great house manners. She is trustworthy in the home without a crate and has been for many years. Noella also loves to ride in the car and run around off leash--she would best be suited for a home with a fenced yard. If she does go for a walk, she walks well on leash. She loves to sunbathe and to play with squeaky toys too. Noella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken. If she has to be left alone for extended periods of time, she will also use potty pads. If you would like to meet Noella please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We first posted this pretty girl with her buddy Felicia hoping to find the girls a home together. Felicia has found her forever home. Let's make this happen for Dinky too. Once again...meet Dinky. Dinky was a stray, but has proven herself to be a wonderful companion in her foster home. She is approximately 1-1/2 years old. Dinky is shy meeting new people, but once she gets to know you, there is nothing she likes more than a good belly rub. She gets along very well with dogs and other cats. Dinky also loves human companionship. You'll often catch her following her foster family around the house, although she isn't really a lap kitty. This ... Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rosie. This girl is perfect for any chihuahua lover. Rosie is a 5-year-old sweetheart who is friendly and super cuddly. She is about 10 pounds and doesn't mind being toted around. She is a bit of a velcro pup and loves to find an empty lap to lay on. Rosie is great with other dogs. She isn't interested in a playmate but can co-exist nicely with other dogs who have an equally calm demeanor. She once lived with kids. We think she would be fine with any size human who is gentle. Although we don't know what experience Rosie has had with cats, we can't imagine her being more than curious. She's a pretty laid back girl. Rosie would do best ... (Read More)with a fenced yard because that is what she is used to in her previous home. She is currently being leashed for potty breaks and it is still an adjustment for her, leading to occasional accidents. Rosie hopes to find a forever home where she can sleep in bed and be spoiled rotten. She is a very loving girl who deserves it! Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Frasier. This is one cute little dude. He is 3-year-old mixed breed guy who has a lot of spunk. Your guess is as good as ours as far as breeds go. Something medium and adorable is all we can say. Frasier is a smart, playful guy who would love to have an active owner who will give all of the attention he needs. Frasier is friendly with people and will especially bond with anyone offering him a toy. He has blast with balls and pull toys. He does really well with other dogs, but can get frustrated with dogs who don't listen to their owners. In other words, he polices other dogs' obedience. He is a smart cookie and likes to learn new ... (Read More)things. Hopefully he will find an awesome family who will continue with the training he has already started. He's pretty decent on leash and would make a good running buddy. Frasier doesn't trust little kids, but would be fine with older kids. It's mostly about finding kids who can handle his energy if he gets really happy and excited and who can respect his space. Frasier is a cat chaser, but listens to 'leave it' and will give the cat space if needed. Frasier is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Makenzie. This pretty girl is just as sweet as she in unique. She is a 2-year-old basset/pit mix, maybe a basspit hound. Get it? Makenzie can be a little shy at first and is generally submissive-- she rolls over and shows her belly to any person and any dog. She has NEVER been aggressive with anything, but does enjoy chasing cats. Makenzie had some slight physical developmental delays when she was a pup due to her needing casts on her front legs. During this critical time she wasn't able to be taken outside regularly for potty breaks. This put her behind the curve in terms of housetraining. She is doing much better these days, but ... (Read More)will have an occasional accident. This is probably her one and only flaw. Makenzie has been raised around other dogs. She does great with everyone of all sizes, but she would probably also be fine as an only pet. Makenzie is also sweet and gentle with kids. She may not love to be around a bunch of rowdy kids, but hanging out and being loved would be right up her alley. Makenzie is so loving and snuggly--all 58 pounds of her. The more love she cant get, the better. She knows some basic commands and does well on leash. She is super treat motivated and is ready to learn anything you teach her. Makenzie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is well behaved in her crate and mostly housetrained (see note above). Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Royal. There are fewer sweethearts in this world than this handsome guy. He is friendly to all and always happy. And when you are with him, you have to be happy too---he makes sure of it. Royal is a 3-year-old pittie mix who weighs about 50 pounds. He is a fairly high energy guy who loves to run and play. Royal gets along with other dogs, but he isn't much of a rumble-tumble/wrestling kind of guy. At most he wants to run along with another dog and can co-exist in a home environment just fine. That being said, Royal prefers to be with people and to play with people over other canines. He loves rope toys, but also plays with balls. ... (Read More)Royal could live in a home with cats as long as he is monitored. He will chase cats that run unless he is corrected. Thankfully he takes correction well and will back off as soon as he is told to leave it. Royal has spent the last year with children as young as 5 years old . He is friendly and gentle with kids, but his energy is sometimes more than some young kids want to deal with. Royal is a cuddle baby when he isn't running. Part of that comes from his stellar personality, but part of that is because this guy is always cold! Poor Royal as a naturally thin coat than makes him very sensitive to weather. When the temps drop below 50 degrees, Royal wears a coat to stay warm. Royal is a bit strong on leash. We always recommend an Easy Walk harness or similar for dogs who have a tendency to tug on leash. Otherwise, Royal is well mannered and knows some basic commands. Royal is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. He is a friendly, energetic, silly guy who would love to live with an active person who can appreciate his desire to be adventurous. Boris is about 5 years old and is a pittie mix of sorts. He was originally from South Carolina and was found in the trunk of a car starved and heartworm positive. His foster mom took him in, got him healthy, and now he is ready for his forever home. Boris loves people and likes to tell them as often as possible. He gives kisses, hugs and does the typical pittie nibbles. He has never been aggressive, but still is mouthy during ... (Read More)play. Boris is good with other dogs, especially the ladies. He can be possessive over food. As long as he is fed separately, he is fine.Boris gets a long well with cats, but does chase them. He has never hurt a cat in his foster home--those cats are also pretty dog savvy. Boris would be fine with children who can handle his strength and energy. Like we mentioned above, he is never aggressive, but he can be bouncy and strong. We wouldn't want a child to accidentally get hurt by his enthusiasm. Boris is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. However , he does not need a crate when unsupervised in the home. If you would like to offer Boris a forever home please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Blue. This 10-year-old pittie needs a fantastic retirement home where he can just chill. He has lived with one family his whole life, but when they were no longer giving him any attention including basic care, extended family stepped in to help while we searched for a foster or forever home. Blue is a very sweet, friendly boy who would prefer to spend his days with his people rather than in a crate. Blue has been raised with kids, cats, and dogs and does well with all three. He has lived with toddlers, but has also met younger kids without issue. He might sneak in a kiss or two but is always gentle. Blue had a dog buddy in his former ... (Read More)home who was more his size. They did well together, but he does even better with smaller dogs. He was also living with cats in his former home. He seems to get along with everyone--human, canine and feline. Blue is a low energy dog who is strong on leash, but does better with a harness. He likes to ride in the car and go where his people go. Blue has great house manners too. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt hoe that can help us get Blue to his vet appointment to become up to date on vetting on us. Blue is housebroken and crate trained. If you would like to meet Blue, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $125. (Less)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Ooma. This 6-year-old coonhound/bassett mix is beyond adorable and so ultra sweet. She is gentle, loving and great companion. Although Ooma loves to go for walks, she would do best with a fenced in yard to help her get enough exercise while keep her safe. Ooma is very friendly with everyone and everything. She has lived with cats and has done great. Her former kitten friend was also a great snuggle buddy. Ooma is also very excited to meet new dogs. She is quite the social butterfly. Omma has lived with children of various ages and has done great--even with toddlers. Omma would like a home that can offer her walks and cuddle time in ... (Read More)equal amounts. She is a 60-pound snuggle buddy. Ooma knows a couple of commands and has come a long way since being adopted a year ago. We are guessing that she didn't have the most stellar beginning at life because too much chaos, loud noises or harsh voices make her pretty nervous. She is doing much better being out and about in public places these days. She has learned that these places give her a lot of attention, and of course she is on board with that. Ooma is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She is also housebroken and crate trained. In fact she likes to have her crate door open so that she can retreat to it whenever she needs a safe place. If you would like to meet Ooma please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)
