Rescue Me ID: 16-09-19-00131Solana (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Solana. This sweet girl can be added to our list of great saves. She, along with two others, was given a given a deadline at IACC to either find rescue or be put to sleep. As awful as it sounds, sometimes large-intake shelters have to make awful choices when they get bombarded with strays and owner surrenders. When there is no place for the dogs to go, what other choices do they have? We get it and try to help when we can. Solana was definitely worth the save! Solana is a two-year-old pittie mix. She is a compact girl with a lot of strength in her little body. She weighs 45 pounds. We can tell she has something else non-bully in her ... (Read More)mix, but we aren't sure what. Maybe Jack Russell? Anyway, we love Solana and her friendly playful spirit. She is a total sweetheart who makes friends quickly. She was abandoned in her home for several days before she was found. She was scared and very thin. You would never know by her awesome spirit--she is happy, bouncy playful, and always ready for snuggles. Solana loves having a canine companionship. She is deaf and might feel comforted having another dog to read body language and cues about her surroundings. Solana does not do well with cats. We could see Solana in a home with children who are steady on their feet. She get a little bouncy when she's extra excited. Solana is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken, but not crate trained. Well, she can go into a crate, but absolutely hates it. At her foster home she is confined to one room and does great. She will need more work on commands. It's a little tough because of her deafness. Simply giving a verbal command won't cut it. We are working on hand cues with er and want her forever family to do the same. Please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting if you are interested in meeting Solana. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Chow Chow Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Chico. This handsome boy is an 11-year-old chow/sharpei mixed who has been very loved. Sadly his owner's health has forced him to look for a new forever home. Chico is very sweet and very agreeable to everything, especially food. Chico gets along great with cats and other dogs, but would also do fine as an only dog. Until he went into his foster home, he had never shared his home with another animal. It just goes to show how easy going he is. As far as we know, Chico is good with kids. We're not sure about really little ones, but he would be just fine with any gentle children. Chico has great manners although his constant appetite ... (Read More)could get him into trouble if food were left within his reach. Chico also needs more leash practice. He is eager to please and has already improved his skills. Chico is pretty medium in his energy--he is always up for a walk, but also loves to lounge. He would probably love having a lap to lounge on. He's also independent at times and just happy to know his people are around. Chico is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is also solidly housebroken and trustworthy not crated when unsupervised (see note about unprotected food). Chico will speak up if he needs food, water, potty break, or kisses. He is just do easy to care for and to love. Chico is a healthy boy, but does have some allergies. He will need a good-quality food and Apoquel allergy meds ever day to prevent him from feeling itchy. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-19-00122Jack (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Jack. Pups like this make people's eyes get wider, jaws drop, and hearts start to race. We understand because it happened to us too when we saw him. Jack is a 6-month-old boxer pup who was a local stray and was never claimed. We just don't see how this guy wasn't missed and ultra spoiled in a home. We have had Jack in a safe place for the last week and have learned a bit about him. The most prominent personality trait in this guy is how darling he is. The kisses. The cuddles. The love. It's almost unbearable. Jack is, of course, also playful and energetic. He's a puppy after all and will need someone who can handle all of the extra ... (Read More)responsibilities that come along with that role--like training. Jack is great with kids and other dogs. We don't know how he is with cats. He seems to know sit and shake already. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for Jack because we need to get him up to date on his vetting--neuter, vaccines, and heartworm test. He is already microchipped. That is all included in his adoption fee ($200) Jack is somewhat housebroken. He doesn't have accidents in his crate and will go outside when you take him, but at night when no one is watching he will have an accident because he doesn't yet know how to tell you what he needs. If you are interested in Jack, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $200. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-18-00566Simba (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Simba. It's sad to think about dogs as strays, but even worse is a stray puppy. This poor guy was left to fend for himself in Tippecanoe County. He is a fairly large pup. Something about him makes him look like a mastiff mix, but he doesn't seem to have big enough feet to grow into that size of a dog. Full grown he might reach 60 pounds. He is currently about 6 months old and weighs about 40 pounds. This adorable pup is sweet as can be. Of course you can also expect that he is full of playful puppy energy. He would love an active household where he get run around a lot and gets a lot of attention. We could see him sharing his house ... (Read More)with kids, cats, or dogs because of his great disposition and his young age. Because of his mysterious background which likely didn't contain much structure, Simba will need work on some basic skills and commands--crate training, housebreaking, and the like. The good thing is that this guy is totally motivated to please his people and would do most anything for a yummy treat. We are so excited to see how this guy grows and develops because we are confident is going to be amazing in his forever home. He is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-18-00495Chapo (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Chapo. Or Big Ol' Lover. Gosh do we love this guy! Chapo is a 10-year-old pittie mix baby who has stolen the hearts of many, but has not yet found a perfect forever home. We hope we can change that. Chapo is a friendly, calm guy who does not look a day over 8. Sadly, his ears were cut off with scissors when he was a pup. (Please, please, leave your dogs' ears natural!) He is ready for a walk or playtime whenever you are. If it's time to chill, Chapo is up for that too. On Saturday Chapo spent the morning at Imagination Station getting all sorts of attention from young and old. He ate it up like nothing. Chapo would do great in a home ... (Read More)with other dogs. If there's a puppy in the house, he makes a great nanny and will play all day. The only thing that makes him uncomfortable are dogs who are bigger than he is. Cats, however, seem to be an issue no matter the size or temperament. Meeting them goes fine until the cats run, then Chapo is full speed after them. See--his 10 years is very unbelievable. He is spry and active. In fact, he can run with the young and the fast. Chapo has great manners, although he is pretty strong on leash. A fenced yard would probably be ideal for him. Chapo is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is housebroken and crate trained, although isn't necessary. He doesn't chew what isn't his. He doesn't even get on the furniture unless invited. We love this big guy! If you would like to meet Chapo ,please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $125. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-18-00492Chili (male)

Neapolitan Mastiff    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Chili. This handsome guy is a 5-year-old Neapolitan mastiff who is quite the charmer. We were told that he is a purebred Neo from a backyard breeder or puppy-mill-similar situation. Personality wise is a typical Neo who is missing a few of the expected wrinkles. Chili is friendly, happy, and always up for chasing tennis balls. Chili arrived as a very underweight guy, but has now crept up to about 95 pounds. He could still add a few more to get to his ideal weight, closer to 100 pounds. Chili has been very sweet in his foster home and has great house manners. He has even had the chance to travel a bit and does really well on adventures ... (Read More)too. Chili likes other dogs, but isn't a big fan of bossy males. However, Chili is always polite when meeting new dogs on leash. He would also be fine as an only pet. Chili is even good with cats. We recommend older children for Chili simply due to his size and inexperience with kids. He has never shown any aggression to anyone, including at the vet. Chili is looking for a forever home where he can be a spoiled baby. He would love an infinite supply of tennis balls, opportunities to play with the garden hose, chewies, chewies, and more chewies, plus an occasional pup cup from Starbucks. Chili is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Overall he is very quiet and knows some basic commands. Chili is a good boy! If you would like to meet Chili, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $200. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Martin. This handsome, brindle gentleman is well behaved and friendly with everyone. Martin was a stray whose owner never claimed him. He is now waiting for a better home to come along where he won't ever have to worry about having a comfortable place to sleep, a steady meal or shelter to keep him safe. We believe he is about 2 years old. We don't know his breed mix, but we do suspect some bully breed in his genes. His coat is not super short like most pits. It has a little bit of fluff to it and is super soft. He weighs about 50 pounds--every ounce is full of love. Martin could do well in a home with children and other dogs. He isn't ... (Read More)hyper, but does have some young dog energy that could be worn off with a playmate, either human or canine. Martin loves a good belly rub and some cuddles. Martin doesn't know many commands and is sometimes a puller on leash. He needs a little practice and probably an Easy Walk harnesses as a quick fix. We also think Martin would really enjoy a fenced yard. We have not seen him interact with cats. He is up to date on shots, microchipped, and neutered. He is housebroken, but we don't know about being crated. At the shelter he was kenneled and did well. Martin's adoption fee is $150. Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Selena. This little girl has become a surprise favorite of ours. Selena was adopted from a shelter with an unknown (to us) background, then bought from a yard sale site, then sent to us. Some of the reasons she was being rehomed made us wonder how much reform would be needed while in our program. As it turns out, Selena is perfect as is--friendly, loving, snuggly, playful! Selena is a 3-year-old miniature pinscher who is great with dogs of all sizes. She does bark at dogs walking by, but she really would love to meet them all and then play. She is quite cuddly with a dog who will let her cuddle. In fact, a sweet, fun doggy playmate ... (Read More)would be ideal in her forever home. We were told that Selena chases cats with the intention of initiating play. Any cats in her home would have to be cool with a little game of chase. One of the first things we noticed about Selena is how much she loves kids! She really latches on to them and wants them to be her best buddy. We have seen her with kids as young as 3 years old. Selena is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready for a forever home. She is solidly housebroken and well-behaved in her crate. We do recommend crating her when left alone for long periods of time because garbage and other things in the kitchen, such as cupcakes, might be appealing to her. If you would like to meet Selena please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $175. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Pop. Those ears might be what catch your attention, but it's his sweet personality that will steal your heart. He is a little shy to start things off, but he adjusts pretty quickly to new people and places. Pop is a 2-year-old chihuahua/basenji mix perhaps. He weighs about 20 pounds although he doesn't look that big even in person. Pop is a sweet, sweet boy who gets along with everyone. In his original home he had a 4-year-old girl as his bestest buddy. His current foster home doesn't have small children, but they feel comfortable placing him with calm, gentle kids. Pop is also great with other dogs. He seems to do best with ... (Read More)similar-sized or smaller dogs. His latest bestie is a sweet little kitten. He will play with her whenever he gets the chance. Pop does great on leash and knows some basic commands. He has good house manners, but is a door darter. If he sees an open door, he will try to run out. This is something that will need to be worked on in his forever home. A fenced yard might be a good idea for this little guy. Pop is a great combination of playful and cuddly and can fit into a lot of different homes. He is a quiet guy who likes to be with his people. Pop is neutered, up to date on shots, hertworm negative, and microchipped. Pop is also solidly housebroken and crate trained. The first step is to complete the adoption application in the link below. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Mischief. This cutie is a 10-month-old pit mix pup who has become the victim of breed discrimination. Unfortunately the landlord isn't budging and Mischief needs a new place to call home. Mischief is happy to meet anyone and everyone. He is very friendly, bouncy, and full of energy. He could use some training and regular exercise (like any puppy does). However, Mischief likes to relax as hard as he plays. Once he has burned his energy, Mischief is a cuddly baby. Mischief has spent the last couple of months with children of various ages. They are dog savvy and know how to react to an exuberant dog. Although Mischief sometimes jumps, he ... (Read More)doesn't ever mean any harm. The happy guy also loves to meet other dogs. A play buddy in his forever home or regular play dates with other dogs would probably be great exercise for him. Mischief has also been around cats and done fine. The cats are pretty indifferent to Mischief's existence so we don't know how he would be with cats who actually notice he is there. Just like with everything else, Mischief would likely mean no harm and just want to play. Mischief is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. he is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Brad Pit. See what we did? With such good looks we thought the name was quite appropriate. Brad was found in Carroll County, all alone in the middle of the road. He was emaciated and scared. Brad's finders took him in, looked for his owners, and took him to a vet. Brad is now a happy, healthy guy who needs a forever home. Brad is about 8 months old. He is clearly a pit, but those eyes and his markings really scream Catahoula. He weighs about 50 pounds. Brad is a very friendly guy who loves making new human friends. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, a big smile and a little bounce. The biggest reason Brad cannot stay with his ... (Read More)finders is that he doesn't seem to prefer other animals in his life. Similar-sized dogs with slow introductions might work out. Otherwise, Brad would be totally content as an only pet. He loves to run and play, but can easily entertain himself. His ball is everything. He will stand at the top of the stairs, drop the ball, then chase after as it bounces and rolls away. Not only is Brad fun and funny, he is also a lovable baby. He is cuddly and sweet. His ideal home will love him bunches and continue the training the finders have started. Brad is super smart and loves to learn, especially when treats are involved. Brad is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Other than the grumbles at other animals, he is perfect little boy. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Charley. This pretty girl (yes, girl) is a mixed breed sweetie pie. It depends on the angle, lighting and how many hours of beauty rest she has had which breed seems to stick out most. When we poll people, boxer and lab seem to be repeated quite a bit. German shepherd and some kind of hound has also been thrown in to spice things up. We don't know what she is, and frankly, we don't care. She will be 2 years old in December, weighs about 60 pounds, and is virtually perfect in our eyes. Charley is an energetic, playful girl who does great with other dogs. she kind of ignores little dogs and loves to play with buddies her own size. She is ... (Read More)also great with kids. She has a thing for boys, but will happily hang out with anyone who will give her attention. We do not know how Charley does with cats. Charley is very friendly with people. She has great house manners and knows how to sit on command. She will need work with learning other commands. Right now she is working on leash training with a Martingale collar, and it seems to be going well. She does pull some when she is excited. Charley rides really well in the car and is excited to go on an adventure. Charley is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where she can hang out while we get her brought up to date on vetting. When it's all said an done she will be spayed, have up-to-date vaccinations, be microchipped, and be heartworm tested. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Clyde. He is a 5-month-old mixed breed guy. We never saw mom or dad, so we can only guess on the mix. We think he might have some shepherd or husky and some lab. The bottom line is that he is a little of anything and possibly everything. Clyde is a little extra special because he has two different ears. In the picture it looks like one ear is flipped back, but it really is just how he is born. It makes us love him even more. He is a sweet, sweet little boy who has not been very socialized. He was very shy when we first met him, but he is already warming up to new things he has been exposed to such as noises and objects in the home. ... (Read More)Clyde does very well with other dogs and will need a more confident dog in his new home to help him learn about a dog's life. Clyde is a little interested in cats and kind of wants to chase, but he also takes correction well and is learning to ignore them when they run. Clyde would do fine with children who will be patient with him as he adjusts to all that is new around him. He is shy but not ever aggressive. Clyde is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Clyde is learning about housebreaking. Quite honestly, he is doing an amazing job. He has had just a couple of accidents in his first few days as an indoor pup. Clyde is also doing great in his crate. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Mimsy. This is another pitiful girl who is displaced because of the death of her owner. She is currently being cared for by a stranger who over heard the family's need for help with this adorable girl. We don't have a lot of information about Mimsy's life before now, so we are guessing she is a 12-ish-year-old rat terrier. She is is a petite thing weighing only 10 pounds. Mimsy greets strangers with a bark then continues to wag her tail and offer kisses. Once she has really relaxed you get to see her true spirit. She is silly, fun, and super cuddly. Mimsy is great with other dogs. We believe she lived with dogs in the past, but she has ... (Read More)also been around other dogs with her current caregiver. We also have learned that she does not like cats. Mimsy is good with children, even toddlers. However, she does expect them to be gentle and not to constantly want to pick her up. If that is understood, she loves to make kids her playmate with a game of chase of fetch. Mimsy has great house manners and is solidly housebroken. She does not need to be crated as she is totally trustworthy when left alone. Mimsy will be up to date on shots, heartworm negative, microchipped and spayed. Her fur is missing in places as she has recovered from a case of flea dermatitis. She might also need some glucosamine for her hips. He rear legs seem to be a little stiff, although nothing seems to slow her down. If you are interested in helping us help Mimsy please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $125. (Less)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

We know bonded pairs are a challenge, but check out these two beauties who are in need of a fantastic home together. Meet Ginger and Gabby. These sweet girls are 3.5-year-old pit/golden retriever mixes. They are a bonded pair of littermates who do not not know life apart. They are looking for a forever home together. And as their foster mom has reported, "Anybody would be lucky to have them. They are the sweetest and most loving four legged children ever." Gabby is the larger, fluffier one of the two, weighing 65 pounds. Ginger weighs 55 pounds. They kind of gauge their energy around yours. They can be ready to play at a moment's ... (Read More)notice and really like to play ball in the yard. They also play with one another quite a bit. To the untrained ear it can sound pretty rough, but they are just loud and enthusiastic. When that's over, they are ready to hunker down and have some lazy time. But if you go to another room, the girls are coming with. Gabby and Ginger are good with other dogs for the most part. They don't seems to like dominant females though. Alpha males and non-dominant males or females are just fine. They are being fostered with other dogs and are doing well. Gabby and Ginger are fine with children, but we don't know how they are with cats. Both dogs are spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. They are solidly housebroken and crate trained. At the foster's house they stay together in a 5'x10' outdoor kennel inside the climate controlled garage while everyone is at work. When everyone is home, they are right where the action is and soaking up attention. They just want to love and to be loved. If you would like to meet Gabby and Ginger please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Taffy. This is a sweet little girl who, along with Trooper (also posted), has decided that attacking the neighbor's chickens is a fun sport. Since Taffy's current family does not want to or is not able to contain her, she must find a new home. We know that with her rat terrier and Jack Russell breeds there is always a possible instinct to not mix well with livestock. That doesn't, however, make her a bad dog. In fact, Taffy is a total sweetheart with everyone and everything else. Taffy is about 4 years old and full of energy. She loves to run and play. She also loves to explore which makes it a bad idea for her to be off leash when ... (Read More)not contained in a fenced yard. She is pretty shy towards strangers with cameras, but will gladly perk up for pizza crust. Taffy has been raised around children. The current children in her family start around 4 years old. She is really great with them and never aggressive. She does try to get away from them if they want to pick her up too much, but we don't really blame her for that. Taffy has also been raised around other dogs. She likes to romp and play. As for cats, she has been around outside cats but we don't know how she would be with them indoors. Taffy will be fully up to date on vetting prior to adoption including spay, up to date on shots, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Taffy has been kept mostly outside or in a garage and has been reliably housebroken. She has never been crated but has been confined to a pen, although she quickly learned how to squeeze under it. If you would like to meet Taffy, then please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-21-00119Trooper the Tripod (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Trooper. This adorable lab is a 5-year-old calm, sweet guy who needs a new home because he attacked the neighbor's chickens and keeping him leashed or contained is not an option for the current family. Trooper is a special guy for so many reasons, the biggest being his ability to overcome adversity. A few years ago Trooper was let out by a housesitter and he took off. No one was able to find him for a few days until a farmer happened across him with his leg stuck in a fence. Sadly, Trooper's rear, right leg was amputated. Trooper bounced back quickly and still runs as fast (or faster) than the family's other dogs with 4 legs. Trooper ... (Read More)is a gentle soul who still loves to run and play. He has been raised around children of all ages and is patient with them. He is also around other dogs. He likes to play and wrestle a bit. Sometimes he plays fetch, but he isn't always great about bringing the ball back. Trooper has been around outside cats. He does chase them sometimes, but he is also willing to lay in the sunshine together with them. Trooper is looking for a home who will help us get him to his vet appointment for vaccines and a heartworm test once he is placed. He is already neutered. Trooper has recently lived outside since the family decided they didn't want dogs inside. We are guessing that he is still housebroken. He has never been crated, but is sometimes is in an outside pen. Trooper weighs about 60 pounds. We think that he will need a home that doesn't have too many steps. We just aren't sure if he can climb stairs with his three legs, as he has never had to do that before. We also think a fenced yard would be ideal. If you would like to meet Trooper, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bruno. We post a lot of shy dogs who need a moment to warm up--Bruno is not one of them! This handsome guy is personality plus. He is a 2-year-old boxer/pit mix who weighs about 60 pounds. He is adorable, friendly, and always in a good mood. Bruno has been raised around children. He is very sweet to them, but his bouncy nature can get him into trouble with really little ones who aren't steady on their feet. Bruno's single goal each day is to play and get a lot of attention. So in terms of cats, Bruno wants to play with them, just like he would a person. Some cats are a little overwhelmed by that much attention. His intention is never ... (Read More)to harm. We didn't know how Bruno was with dogs at first. As far as we knew, he had not had any experience with dogs other than seeing them from a distance on leash. As it turns out, Bruno is a great with similar-sized dogs and really likes a playmate. We have not seen him interact with dogs smaller than he is. Bruno is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken as long as he gets potty breaks at reasonable intervals. He is not a fan of being crated because he used to be crated for long periods of time and as a form of punishment. He is being worked with to help him see the crate as a positive. As a younger pup he would find things that weren't his to chew on. Recently he has been doing well without the crate. Bruno knows some basic commands and requires and Easy Walk harness because otherwise he will tug too much. He loves going for walks, meeting new people, and going for car rides. American Bulldog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Chubs, a 7-year-old American bully (or some say pit mix). This squatty little muscle man is amazing in so many ways, but we feel we need to get the one flaw out of the way first. Chubs hates other animals. It's a fact. He cannot live with another animals. Even on leash he will tug pretty hard to get to another animal if he sees one. This makes walks difficult. Chubs will need a securely fenced yard to keep him from being naughty and to keep neighborhood animals safe. The lack of walking doesn't bother Chubs much because he runs out of steam rather quickly anyway. Now for all of the things that make Chubs amazing. He is the biggest ... (Read More)sweetheart and a 70-pound baby. He loves people so much and is so dedicated to them. He also adores children. he is super tolerant and has been around kids of all sizes. Of course, we say this not as an invitation for kids to not know their boundaries, but rather to say that Chubs doesn't mind if a kid runs past him or sits next to him watching TV. Chubs has good manners and knows some basic commands. He is not a big barker unless he feels he needs to alert the family to something like a passing dog. This cutie loves meeting new people and going for rides. Adoption includes neuter, up to date shots, heartworm negative, and microchip. He is housebroken and is not crate trained because he hasn't ever needed to be. If you would like to meet Chubs please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.     Meet Phoenix. This pretty girl is a 4-year-old old pittie who lost everything in a house fire. Thankfully all living beings made it out safely, but the house is a total loss and the family is displaced for quite some time while they rebuild. As a result, Phoenix has gone from a pampered indoor dog to an outside dog who is living in a pole barn. She is often alone and getting pretty bummed. Unfortunately the home where they are staying already has two dogs who really don't want to share anything with Phoenix. The family has realized that Phoenix needs more than they can currently provide for her. Phoenix is a really great dog. She is ... (Read More)friendly with everyone, even children. She has never lived with kids, but she has had short-term short-stack visitors. She usually says hi, then goes about her business. She does great with other dogs. It's too bad the dogs in the current home didn't give her a chance because she would have loved a buddy or two. Phoenix has great house manners and knows basic commands. she isn't hyper at all, but does love to play with any toys you give her. She has always had a fenced in yard to run around in safely. Phoenix loves cuddle time and wouldn't mind sleeping in bed again. She loves her people (and new people, too). Phoenix is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Her family had been letting her roam free in the house when unsupervised before the house fire. We are confident that she will be trustworthy in a new home too. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Foster or foster-to-adopt home needed! Meet Samson. This adorable pup was given to a family in a pretty sad state. He was skin and bones and full of scratches and scars. They took Samson in, fattened him up, and got him ready to move on to a new home that will promise never to treat him like he had been treated in the past. Of course we agreed to help. Samson is a 6-month-old pittie mix boy. He is everything you can imagine--adorable, funny, playful, cuddly, affectionate, and a little naughty. Samson plays well with other dogs and has lived with cats. We can't say for sure whether he did well with them or not. We would trust Samson with ... (Read More)children who like a bouncy, friendly puppy. We don't expect Samson to get super big. He might weigh about 25 pounds now. We need a foster or foster-to-adopt home for this guy because he needs to get his vetting brought up to date. We can't take care of that until he is officially placed with us. He will be neutered, receive vaccine, and be microchipped. He is typical puppy in that he needs help with housebreaking (although we are impressed with his skills so far) and basic commands. He is doing pretty well in the crate now. He sometimes protests a little but quiets down after just a couple of minutes. If you would like to be consider as a short- or long-term home for Samson or if you have any questions, please fill out the adoption application on the website below.
