Rescue Me ID: 16-08-22-00725Harley (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Harley. This guy came to us in the midst of a family emergency. We couldn't say no, but we had no immediate space available. We placed him in boarding just to keep him safe, and now he is ready to move on to a forever home (although even a foster home would be appreciated)! Harley is a 10-year-old border collie (mix?). This is not a case where the camera adds 10 pounds. Harley is a big boy weighing 87 pounds. He is cutting back on junk food and watching his waistline reappear. Although Harley is a bit chunky, he is in good health and has great self esteem. He runs and struts with the best of them, plus he is open, friendly and ... (Read More)outgoing. He loves to get belly rubs and roll around in the grass. Harley has been raised around kids, cats, and other dogs. He really perks up to greet new people and other animals. Harley is chill when he needs to be and ready to explore outside when that's appropriate. He is a bit strong on leash and changes lanes without warning. A little practice and an Easy Walk harness (or similar) should do the trick. Harley would appreciate a fenced yard where he can hang on beautiful days with his people by his side. Harley is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. At the last vet visit it was discovered that Harley is Lyme disease positive and suffering from an ear infection. He is on medication and will be healed up pretty quickly. Our big handsome guy is housebroken and crate trained. He is generally very quiet and well behaved. If you would like to meet Harley please complete an application on our website. His adoption fee is $125. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-22-00722Clyde (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Clyde. He is a 5-month-old mixed breed guy. We never saw mom or dad, so we can only guess on the mix. We think he might have some shepherd or husky and some lab. The bottom line is that he is a little of anything and possibly everything. Clyde is a little extra special because he has two different ears. In the picture it looks like one ear is flipped back, but it really is just how he is born. It makes us love him even more. He is a sweet, sweet little boy who has not been very socialized. He was very shy when we first met him, but he is already warming up to new things he has been exposed to such as noises and objects in the home. ... (Read More)Clyde does very well with other dogs and could benefit from a more confident dog to help him learn about a dog's life. Clyde is a little interested in cats and kind of wants to chase, but he also takes correction well and is learning to ignore them when they run. Clyde would do fine with children who will be patient with him as he adjusts to all that is new around him. He is shy but not ever aggressive. Once Clyde is placed in his foster or foster-to-adopt home, he will be brought up to date on his vetting: neuter, vaccines, and microchip. Clyde is learning about housebreaking. Quite honestly, he is doing an amazing job. He has had just a couple of accidents in his first few days as an indoor pup. Clyde is also doing great in his crate. He will need to learn things like a leash and basic commands, but we are certain he will pick it all up very quickly. If you would like to be a foster or foster-to-adopt home for Clyde please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-22-00716Mimsy (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Mimsy. This is another pitiful girl who is displaced because of the death of her owner. She is currently being cared for by a stranger who over heard the family's need for help with this adorable girl. We don't have a lot of information about Mimsy's life before now, so we are guessing she is a 12-ish-year-old rat terrier. She is is a petite thing weighing only 10 pounds. Mimsy greets strangers with a bark then continues to wag her tail and offer kisses. Once she has really relaxed you get to see her true spirit. She is silly, fun, and super cuddly. Mimsy is great with other dogs. We believe she lived with dogs in the past, but she has ... (Read More)also been around other dogs with her current caregiver. We also have learned that she does not like cats. Mimsy is good with children, even toddlers. However, she does expect them to be gentle and not to constantly want to pick her up. If that is understood, she loves to make kids her playmate with a game of chase of fetch. Mimsy has great house manners and is solidly housebroken. She does not need to be crated as she is totally trustworthy when left alone. Mimsy will be up to date on shots, heartworm negative, microchipped and spayed. Her fur is missing in places as she has recovered from a case of flea dermatitis. She might also need some glucosamine for her hips. He rear legs seem to be a little stiff, although nothing seems to slow her down. If you are interested in helping us help Mimsy please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $125. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-21-00138Wally (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered

Meet Wally. Oh yes, this guy is as cute as cute can be. He is a 3-year-old shih tzu/schnauzer mix, or so we think. Wally is totally adorable and can be the sweetest dog ever, but he has some quirks that have made him not an ideal candidate for a family with children. Wally was adopted from a shelter as a young pup. Although we don't know much about his puppyhood prior to being adopted, Wally demonstrates behaviors common among dogs who are separated from their litter too young (before 8 weeks). He can be fearful and unable to self soothe. He is also a resource guarder which is something that doesn't usually mix well with small children. The ... (Read More)family has worked with a behaviorist on these issues. It has been very helpful, and Wally has been doing great except with children. Perhaps it is because he tries to take advantage of them or because they aren't always able to read the cues he gives as warning before reacts. The family has decided with a heavy heart that Wally needs to live in a child-free environment. We agree. Wally has been learning his limits to his social anxieties. He likes to check people and things out on his own terms to decide whether he feels comfortable. Once he has done his appropriate amount of sniffing, he is officially a friend. If things are too much for him, he has learned to retreat and not mix with the crowd. His family often has guests over and Wally does fine with the adults, and the adults do well with him too. Wally does great with other dogs. He doesn't live with any currently, but he has visited several other dogs and spent much time romping and playing. We think a dog buddy in his forever home is fine and might help him gain more confidence if he watches another laid back dog do regular dog things. On walks Wally can either be friendly or ignore other dogs. Then there are times when he feels threatened and likes to bark. It's a little unpredictable. Wally has never been around cats, so we cannot predict his behavior with them. We know that not everyone is up for the challenge of Wally, but we do know that his perfect someone is out there. An ideal home for Wally will be calm and childless. He is an energetic, playful, and fun little guy. When he relaxes he is also snuggly and affectionate. He is very smart and knows basic commands. He has also learned what is allowed and what isn't in his home. These boundaries are important for Wally and will continue to be important in his new home. Wally is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. He walks well on leash with an Easy Walk harness. If you would like to meet Wally please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process. Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

We know bonded pairs are a challenge, but check out these two beauties who are in need of a fantastic home together. Meet Ginger and Gabby. These sweet girls are 3.5-year-old pit/golden retriever mixes. They are a bonded pair of littermates who do not not know life apart. They are looking for a forever home together. And as their foster mom has reported, "Anybody would be lucky to have them. They are the sweetest and most loving four legged children ever." Gabby is the larger, fluffier one of the two, weighing 65 pounds. Ginger weighs 55 pounds. They kind of gauge their energy around yours. They can be ready to play at a moment's ... (Read More)notice and really like to play ball in the yard. They also play with one another quite a bit. To the untrained ear it can sound pretty rough, but they are just loud and enthusiastic. When that's over, they are ready to hunker down and have some lazy time. But if you go to another room, the girls are coming with. Gabby and Ginger are good with other dogs for the most part. They don't seems to like dominant females though. Alpha males and non-dominant males or females are just fine. They are being fostered with other dogs and are doing well. Gabby and Ginger are fine with children, but we don't know how they are with cats. Both dogs are spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. They are solidly housebroken and crate trained. At the foster's house they stay together in a 5'x10' outdoor kennel inside the climate controlled garage while everyone is at work. When everyone is home, they are right where the action is and soaking up attention. They just want to love and to be loved. Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Taffy. This is a sweet little girl who, along with Trooper (also posted), has decided that attacking the neighbor's chickens is a fun sport. Since Taffy's current family does not want to or is not able to contain her, she must find a new home. We know that with her rat terrier and Jack Russell breeds there is always a possible instinct to not mix well with livestock. That doesn't, however, make her a bad dog. In fact, Taffy is a total sweetheart with everyone and everything else. Taffy is about 4 years old and full of energy. She loves to run and play. She also loves to explore which makes it a bad idea for her to be off leash when ... (Read More)not contained in a fenced yard. She is pretty shy towards strangers with cameras, but will gladly perk up for pizza crust. Taffy has been raised around children. The current children in her family start around 4 years old. She is really great with them and never aggressive. She does try to get away from them if they want to pick her up too much, but we don't really blame her for that. Taffy has also been raised around other dogs. She likes to romp and play. As for cats, she has been around outside cats but we don't know how she would be with them indoors. Taffy will be fully up to date on vetting prior to adoption including spay, up to date on shots, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Taffy has been kept mostly outside or in a garage and has been reliably housebroken. She has never been crated but has been confined to a pen, although she quickly learned how to squeeze under it. If you would like to meet Taffy, then please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-21-00119Trooper the Tripod (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Trooper. This adorable lab is a 5-year-old calm, sweet guy who needs a new home because he attacked the neighbor's chickens and keeping him leashed or contained is not an option for the current family. Trooper is a special guy for so many reasons, the biggest being his ability to overcome adversity. A few years ago Trooper was let out by a housesitter and he took off. No one was able to find him for a few days until a farmer happened across him with his leg stuck in a fence. Sadly, Trooper's rear, right leg was amputated. Trooper bounced back quickly and still runs as fast (or faster) than the family's other dogs with 4 legs. Trooper ... (Read More)is a gentle soul who still loves to run and play. He has been raised around children of all ages and is patient with them. He is also around other dogs. He likes to play and wrestle a bit. Sometimes he plays fetch, but he isn't always great about bringing the ball back. Trooper has been around outside cats. He does chase them sometimes, but he is also willing to lay in the sunshine together with them. Trooper is looking for a home who will help us get him to his vet appointment for vaccines and a heartworm test once he is placed. He is already neutered. Trooper has recently lived outside since the family decided they didn't want dogs inside. We are guessing that he is still housebroken. He has never been crated, but is sometimes is in an outside pen. Trooper weighs about 60 pounds. We think that he will need a home that doesn't have too many steps. We just aren't sure if he can climb stairs with his three legs, as he has never had to do that before. We also think a fenced yard would be ideal. If you would like to meet Trooper, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bruno. We post a lot of shy dogs who need a moment to warm up--Bruno is not one of them! This handsome guy is personality plus. He is a 2-year-old boxer/pit mix who weighs about 60 pounds. He is adorable, friendly, and always in a good mood. Bruno has been raised around children. He is very sweet to them, but his bouncy nature can get him into trouble with really little ones who aren't steady on their feet. Bruno's single goal each day is to play and get a lot of attention. So in terms of cats, Bruno wants to play with them, just like he would a person. Some cats are a little overwhelmed by that much attention. His intention is never ... (Read More)to harm. We didn't know how Bruno was with dogs at first. As far as we knew, he had not had any experience with dogs other than seeing them from a distance on leash. As it turns out, Bruno is a great with similar-sized dogs and really likes a playmate. We have not seen him interact with dogs smaller than he is. Bruno is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken as long as he gets potty breaks at reasonable intervals. He is not a fan of being crated because he used to be crated for long periods of time and as a form of punishment. He is being worked with to help him see the crate as a positive. As a younger pup he would find things that weren't his to chew on. Recently he has been doing well without the crate. Bruno knows some basic commands and requires and Easy Walk harness because otherwise he will tug too much. He loves going for walks, meeting new people, and going for car rides.     Meet Nona. This pretty girl is a 10-month-old boxer/German shepherd mix. She is one of the sweetest, happiest, friendliest dogs you'll meet. Poor Nona was left with a friend when her family moved; they never came back for her. Their loss is our gain because this girl is pretty perfect. Nona was raised with kids, cats, and dogs. She is very playful so any critter or child will have to understand that her 50 pounds of bouncy is just in fun. Nona knows some basic commands and walks well on leash with a harness. She is pretty cuddly and likes to be with her people whenever possible. She's an energetic puppy who will love an active owner or ... (Read More)family. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Buster. This handsome guy is an unclaimed stray. Most of the time we are shocked when owners don't come forward. In this case, we are relieved that no owners were found. Poor Buster was found very skinny with a large bite wound on his neck (pic below). A couple of signs that he may have been used in fighting. We believe in being open and honest which is why we include this part. We also want to emphasize that Buster is fantastic with other dogs which makes us think that he refused to participate in fighting, and was, for that reason, set free. Buster is handsome, friendly, and happy. Whatever his past was, he is ready to look forward. ... (Read More)We think Buster is about a 1-year-old pit/hound mix. He weighs about 45 pounds and is pretty spunky. He would do well with another energetic dog buddy. His finders have other dogs, and Buster loves them both. We don't know how he is with cats. As for kids, we think kids who are steady on their feet would do well with Buster's exuberance. There isn't a mean bone in his body. He is just happy all of the time! Buster is already neutered, up to date on rabies, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Buster is housebroken, but does best with a consistent schedule. Health: Spayed

Meet Daisy. Have you ever seen a blond Australian shepherd? We hadn't either until we met Daisy. She is a beautiful 6-year-old girl with a super friendly personality. As often occurs, Daisy is feeling very uncomfortable with the addition of children in her home. She is nervous and overwhelmed with the unpredictable activity and noises. As a result, Daisy spends most of her day in hiding and retreating whenever possible. Although it sounds like she's living in a chaotic house, there is just one toddler and an infant, and that is more than Daisy can handle. Daisy loves more grown up people. She is never aggressive, including with little ones ... (Read More)and is even friendly to visiting children. Living with kids is a different story. Daisy is also friendly with other dogs and with cats, but we do suspect that Daisy would prefer to just co-exist with other animals rather than play or even better would be living as an only pet. Daisy knows basic commands and spins on her back legs for treats. She is a good car rider and walks well on leash. She is obsessed with her laser pointer and could play with that as long as you can hold out. She is a great cuddler and loves her people very much. She is always up for whatever activity the family has planned. She is a trooper and gladly ensures all seasons. Daisy is spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated because she is trustworthy in the home. American Bulldog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Chubs, a 7-year-old American bully (or some say pit mix). This squatty little muscle man is amazing in so many ways, but we feel we need to get the one flaw out of the way first. Chubs hates other animals. It's a fact. He cannot live with another animals. Even on leash he will tug pretty hard to get to another animal if he sees one. This makes walks difficult. Chubs will need a securely fenced yard to keep him from being naughty and to keep neighborhood animals safe. The lack of walking doesn't bother Chubs much because he runs out of steam rather quickly anyway. Now for all of the things that make Chubs amazing. He is the biggest ... (Read More)sweetheart and a 70-pound baby. He loves people so much and is so dedicated to them. He also adores children. he is super tolerant and has been around kids of all sizes. Of course, we say this not as an invitation for kids to not know their boundaries, but rather to say that Chubs doesn't mind if a kid runs past him or sits next to him watching TV. Chubs has good manners and knows some basic commands. He is not a big barker unless he feels he needs to alert the family to something like a passing dog. This cutie loves meeting new people and going for rides. Adoption includes neuter, up to date shots, heartworm negative, and microchip. He is housebroken and is not crate trained because he hasn't ever needed to be. If you would like to meet Chubs please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.     We first posted this adorable teddy bear-looking guy with his life-long companion Snickers. We had just received them into our program and wanted to make sure they were on everyone's radar. Sadly, Snickers' health is rapidly declining with some worrisome lumps and a heartworm positive diagnosis. She will rest comfortably in her hospice forever foster home for her remaining time with us. Spec, on the other hand, is like a new and improved puppy. So, let's give him a proper introduction. Meet Spec. Although his look and his behavior is very puppy-like, this guy is 11 years old. Can you believe it? Watch him run around the yard and hop over ... (Read More)little garden structures and your jaw will drop. He is spry, spunky, and loving life. Spec is a real doll and his smile means the world to us. Spec cam from a long history of neglect and bouncing around with in the family. We can't wait to find him a great retirement home! Spec is a mixed breed guy, maybe English setter/beagle who weighs about 35 pounds. He is awesome with other dogs. He is a sweet caregiver and likes likes to groom them when he isn't running around with them. He seems to get along with everyone even some dogs who don't always love other dogs. He is also fine with cats. We don't recommend him with chickens, though. How do you think we snapped a picture with such a big smile? ;) (No chickens were injured in the making of this post.) Spec is also fine with children. Of course we prefer to see seniors go to homes with calm, gentle kids. Spec is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He is solidly housebroken, but may have an accident in his crate when left alone (#2, not #1). It isn't always the case. He likes to leave it as a surprise. If you would like to meet Spec please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process. Spec's adoption fee is $125. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Phoenix. This pretty girl is a 4-year-old old pittie who lost everything in a house fire. Thankfully all living beings made it out safely, but the house is a total loss and the family is displaced for quite some time while they rebuild. As a result, Phoenix has gone from a pampered indoor dog to an outside dog who is living in a pole barn. She is often alone and getting pretty bummed. Unfortunately the home where they are staying already has two dogs who really don't want to share anything with Phoenix. The family has realized that Phoenix needs more than they can currently provide for her. Phoenix is a really great dog. She is ... (Read More)friendly with everyone, even children. She has never lived with kids, but she has had short-term short-stack visitors. She usually says hi, then goes about her business. She does great with other dogs. It's too bad the dogs in the current home didn't give her a chance because she would have loved a buddy or two. Phoenix has great house manners and knows basic commands. she isn't hyper at all, but does love to play with any toys you give her. She has always had a fenced in yard to run around in safely. Phoenix loves cuddle time and wouldn't mind sleeping in bed again. She loves her people (and new people, too). Phoenix is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Her family had been letting her roam free in the house when unsupervised before the house fire. We are confident that she will be trustworthy in a new home too. If you are interested in meeting Phoenix please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Chapo. Or Big Ol' Lover. This incredible guy is at Almost Home Humane Society, and we cannot resist wanting to help them help him. Chapo is a 10-year-old pittie mix baby who has stolen the hearts of many, but has not yet found a perfect forever home. We hope we can change that. Chapo is a friendly, calm guy who does not look a day over 8. Sadly, his ears were cut off with scissors when he was a pup. (Please, please, leave your dogs's ears natural!) He is ready for a walk or playtime whenever you are. If it's time to chill, Chapo is up for that too. On Saturday Chapo spent the morning at Imagination Station getting all sorts of ... (Read More)attention from young and old. He ate it up like nothing. Chapo would do great in a home with other dogs. Cats, however, seem to be an issue. Meeting them goes fine until the cats run, then Chapo is full speed after them. See--his 10 years is very unbelievable. Chapo has great manners otherwise, although he is pretty strong on leash. A fenced yard would probably be ideal for him. Chapo is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is housebroken and crate trained, but we are sure he would be just fine uncrated. Please complete an adoption application on our website if interested in adopting Chapo. His adoption fee is $125. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Frankie. This cute little guy is just plain adorable and has a great personality to match. He is a 4-year-old pomeranian who is a little big for a typical pom, weighing 14 pounds. If you are looking for a super cuddly lap dog, Frankie is not your guy. He loves attention and affection, but he also likes his independence. He will sit NEAR you, but not ON you. He loves to go for walks and ride in the car, so he would be a great travel companion. Frankie is great with other dogs, but he isn't much of a play buddy. He kind of co exists and yields to the other dogs when sharing toys. In fact, Frankie prefers to play with people over dogs. He ... (Read More)has also lived with cats and been fine. We are told that bunnies are out of the question though. We have had Frankie around children as young as 3 and he was great. He seems to keep his cool even in busy households. Frankie is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. he is also housebroken and crate trained. He is generally very quiet, but does alert when someone comes to the house.     Meet Chili. This handsome guy is a 5-year-old Neopolitan mastiff who is quite the charmer. He is friendly, happy, and always up for chasing tennis balls. Chili arrived as a very underweight guy, but has now creeped up to about 90 pounds. He could still add a few more to get to his ideal weight, closer to 100 pounds. Chili has been very sweet in his foster home and has greet house manners. He has even had the chance to travel a bit and does really well on adventures too. Chili likes other dogs, but isn't a big fan of other bossy males. He would also be fine as an only pet. Chili is even good with cats. We recommend older children for Chili ... Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Foster or foster-to-adopt home needed! Meet Samson. This adorable pup was given to a family in a pretty sad state. He was skin and bones and full of scratches and scars. They took Samson in, fattened him up, and got him ready to move on to a new home that will promise never to treat him like he had been treated in the past. Of course we agreed to help. Samson is a 6-month-old pittie mix boy. He is everything you can imagine--adorable, funny, playful, cuddly, affectionate, and a little naughty. Samson plays well with other dogs and has lived with cats. We can't say for sure whether he did well with them or not. We would trust Samson with ... (Read More)children who like a bouncy, friendly puppy. We don't expect Samson to get super big. He might weigh about 25 pounds now. We need a foster or foster-to-adopt home for this guy because he needs to get his vetting brought up to date. We can't take care of that until he is officially placed with us. He will be neutered, receive vaccine, and be microchipped. He is typical puppy in that he needs help with housebreaking (although we are impressed with his skills so far) and basic commands. He is doing pretty well in the crate now. He sometimes protests a little but quiets down after just a couple of minutes. If you would like to be consider as a short- or long-term home for Samson or if you have any questions, please fill out the adoption application on the website below. Beagle    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Petty. Age is just a number, right? Well, in this case we definitely think so. Petty claims to be 10 years old, but we just don't see it. We see a happy, healthy, energetic beagle who just happens to have some white on his face. Petty has lived with one family since he was a pup and has had to endure a lot of moving. The family thought all of that was behind them, but it seems that there are a few more moves in their future, and none of which will have the fenced in yard (required to contain his hound nose) he used to enjoy. At his age, the family thinks the constant moving will be too hard on him and a new retirement home would be ... (Read More)best. Petty is a little shy at first but soon warms up and gives tiny little puppy kisses. He loves attention and to be with his people, but he also loves to explore new places and scents. Petty is good with young children and ignores them most of the time. He used to go to doggy day care and play with the big dogs. In recent years he hasn't done that and hasn't been around very many other dogs. We think another calm dog would be fine with a slow introduction. We do not know how he is with cats. Petty is a well behaved little guy who has great house manners. he does know basic commands and does not get up on furniture. He sleeps in his dog bed in the bedroom so that he can keep an eye on everyone. Petty is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. He could probably be fine without a crate, but Petty elects to lounge there. If you would like to meet Petty, the first step is to complete the adoption application in the website below. Please be sure to include on the application any questions you have. After we review the applications, we will arrange individual meet and greets. Petty's adoption fee is $125. www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.html (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Reid. Oh my is this a cute little guy. He is a 1-year-old dachshund mix. His original owners were told he was part poodle. We kind of think he looks like a yorkie mix. Perhaps he is 1/2 doxie, 1/2 poodle/yorkie. The end result is that he is super cute and has hair that grows long and needs regular grooming. He is sporting the sleek look with blond tufts on top for his current look. Reid is always a little bashful when meeting new people and new things. He kind of just hangs out in the background doing his own thing until he is ready to say hi. Once he has gotten past his initial shyness, he's a regular guy wanting regular attention and ... (Read More)the opportunity for zoomies. Reid is great with other dogs. He's very playful and silly. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Terry. He is a 1-1/2-year-old chihuahua looking for a new forever home. Terry is kind of a typical chihuahua in a lot of ways, or maybe we should say that he's stereotypical. Terry needs some time to warm up to new people. He was taken off a Facebook yard sale site by his current family. With the exception of the mom, he was pretty standoffish with everyone at first. Each day he warmed up a little more until he back totally adjust after just a week. Terry is also a great house alarm. If he looks out the window, he will let you know if anyone or anything is approaching the home, especially those threatening blowing leaves. he does settle ... (Read More)quickly once you tell him the leaves are not there to attack. Terry has lived with other dogs and loves them. He likes to run and play either alone or with a doggy buddy. Balls seem to be his favorite toy, but he is open for suggestions. He has never been around cats. We think Terry would do best with older children. he really doesn't like the unpredicatble action of really young kids. He is currently living with a 4 and 8-year-old, but they know to be careful around him. Terry is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped.
