Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Brutus. This big 70-80 pound boy was found as a stray in Tippecanoe County. He is a very happy go lucky dog that feels a little to pent up in the shelter environment. When he finally gets out to stretch and run, he can be physical when he plays, which can be too much for small children. Brutus is very receptive to basic commands to chill out and will calm down quite easily. He's very treat motivated and takes his milk bones gently. He's also fantastic on the leash - doesn't pull at all. A fenced yard would be ideal for Brutus, as well. Brutus is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. We are unsure how Brutus does with other ... (Read More)pets. If you are interested in meeting Brutus, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Rubble. This handsome, young guy was never claimed by his owner after being found as a stray. We learned that Rubble used to live with another dog in the home and used to walk the country roads with his former owner. This is likely the reason he does so well on leash. Rubble is a gentle dog, but is a bit timid in the shelter. Once he warms up, he is very loving. He seems to like children and also seems to know some commands. Rubble is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. Since Rubble is at the shelter, it is impossible to know if he is housetrained. Based on his manners, it is likely that Rubble is trained. However, we ... (Read More)always recommend supervision, crating when unsupervised, a routine, and some training with all new dogs in homes. Adults like Rubble catch on very quickly and are usually very eager to please their humans. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Handsome Zuma is looking for a family. He was a stray found in Tippecanoe County with a female lab mix who is also available for adoption. Zuma is a friendly guy that seems to be fairly young. He could use some basic training like leash manners and learning some commands. He can be energetic so children steady on their feet would be best. He is likely good with most other dogs, but we are unsure how he does with cats. Since Zuma was a stray and in a shelter situation currently, we are unsure how he does with house training. We always recommend supervision, the use of a crate, and a consistent schedule. Most adult dogs pick up good habits ... (Read More)quickly. Zuma is likely around 2 years old, weighs about 55 pounds, and is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cecil, a handsome 6 year old, Beagle / Australian Shepherd mix. Cecil has been raised around children and other dogs. He has enjoyed a very active lifestyle full of fetch, hiking, long walks, and being active. Unfortunately, his family is unable to keep him active with the new addition of a baby human sister. He has not adjusted well to the changes and is need of a new home. Cecil was crate trained as a younger dog, but has not needed to be crated as an adult. He LOVES tennis balls and retrieving. Cecil is cuddly and would thrive in a home with another dog and a person who is active. He would be excellent at the dog park. Cecil is ... Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00166Mocha (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Mocha. This is one of the prettiest girls around. She is a gorgeous chocolate-coat pit/lab mix. We are guessing that she is just over a year, and what a sweet baby she is. We are going to throw it out there from the start that Mocha needs to be the only pet in her forever home. Many people will quit reading right now. For those of you mesmerized by her amazing looks, please continue reading to see that her personality matches her looks. Mocha was a stray who went unclaimed. Once adopted from the shelter Mocha settled in to her home very quickly and very happily. She is the sweetest, friendliest, most cuddly little (?) girl (60 pounds) ... (Read More)with all people of all ages. She wags and greets everyone with excitement, every human that is. Unfortunately, in her new home there are neighbor dogs who are constantly coming near her fence, and it's causing a lot of problems. Mocha is great on car rides, but needs some leash practice. She knows a few commands, especially if treats are involved. If you are looking for a bed snuggler, Mocha would love that because she will sneak into bed if there's any available space (and sometimes even when there isn't). She would probably do best with a fenced yard that gives her that chance to burn off energy safely. Mocha is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken and crate trained, but doesn't need a crate. She has great house manners, but might counter surf if food items are left within reach. If you would like to meet Mocha please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Snoopy. We thought we might need to spin this post to beg for sympathy for this guy because he isn't the conventional cute that adopters are often looking for. However, we think his uniqueness is exactly what makes him so stinkin' adorable. Snoopy is one of the last dogs to be pulled from the shelter from the hoarding case in mid-October. Now that we have him in foster care, it's almost painful to think that this awesome guy was passed over for so long. He is a 10-year-old chihuahua mix. We were told he was a fullblooded, but those long legs and larger than normal body (14 pounds!) makes it clear that he has more than chihuahua in in ... (Read More)his genes. We are guessing he is a Chihuahua / Italian Greyhound mix. Snoopy has an all-star personality that really has won us over. He gets along great with other dogs and has even been around larger dogs although dogs more his size are more his thing. Snoopy was introduced to cats at the shelter and was completely indifferent to them. Snoopy hasn't been around small kids with us, but he could do well with kids who are patient and gentle. Snoopy is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is using a belly band in his foster home when unsupervised and is doing great with it. He is crate trained and pretty quiet all around. Snoopy has also had some dental work done. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00146Ella (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Ella. This adorable girl is a 1-year-old boxer/lab mix. She was once a stray who was taken to safety and fostered by a great family until we could place her in a new home. She has spent the last two months with a family who loves her, but it has become more and more apparent that she has more confidence with another dog in the home. Ella is very sweet and very friendly. She is a medium energy dog who definitely needs a daily dose of exercise to keep her in check, but once she has burnt off her energy, she is pretty chill. In fact, when she crashes at night, she's out until you wake her in the morning. Since being placed in this home, ... (Read More)Ella has learned a lot about manners and will need to continue this training. As we mentioned before, Ella loves other dogs and would like a dog buddy her size or bigger. She isn't aggressive towards smaller dogs, but she isn't as interested in playing with them. She has spent a lot of time at daycare and the dog park. She gets really excited to be there and gets tired pretty quickly. It's a win for everyone! Ella is great with children although a lot of roughhousing makes her nervous. We're not sure if it's the noise or activity that concerns her. We don't know how she is with cats. Ella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and prefers not to be crated. She has been trustworthy without the crate when unsupervised. The only flaw the cuddly girl has is her nervousness about some mundane things. Car rides and walks can be overwhelming for her, as can a lot of activity outside the house. We are working on lessening this stress for her and think adding a companion dog back into her life will make all of the difference. If you would like to meet sweet Ella please complete an adoption application at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00141Brad Pitt (male)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We might have to change this guy's name. When he first came to PawSwaP as a puppy, he looked like a pit mix pup with unique markings. Now that he has matured into a handsome young man, we see that he really isn't pit after all, but more likely American bulldog. Let us reintroduce to the guy we call Brad Pit. We'll keep the name for simplicity sake, even if it may no longer be the best suited for him. This ultra handsome guy is a 1-year-old amazing dog who was a stray, but found love and a foster home with the very people who rescued him. He is now a young adult and weighs about 70 pounds. Brad is a very friendly guy who loves making new ... (Read More)human friends. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, a big smile and a little bounce. When Brad was first found, he was emaciated and stressed. He had a brief encounter with another dog who isn't awesome with other dogs. Brad's reaction worried the foster family that he may not like other dogs. Last week, we consulted a behaviorist about Brad to figure out what kind of home he would succeed in. Well, come to find out, Brad loves other dogs! He loves to play and would do great with an active Buddy who isn't overly dominant. He showed no signs of aggression and was really relaxed even when a herd of dogs was barking at him begging for his attention. As for cats, this appears to be an extremely new concept for him. He will need to be guided around appropriate play with a kitty. He kind of wants to tackle a cat the way he does other dogs. We're guessing that most cats won't love that play style. Brad is fine with kids; just keep in mind that he a is a big boy who sometimes forgets his size. Not only is Brad fun and funny, he is also a lovable baby. He is cuddly and sweet. He loves to play with his tennis ball. He is also very well trained. he knows several commands and listens very well. His ideal home will love him bunches and continue the training the finders have started. Brad is super smart and loves to learn, especially when treats are involved. Brad is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and crate trained. He is perfect little boy. If you would like to offer Brad a forever home please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00140Val (female)

Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Val URGENTLY needs a foster or forever home, and, sadly, the home cannot have any other dogs. Cats are fine. We know that placing pittie mixes no matter how small and adorable are tough. However, placing pittie mixes who do not like other dogs is nearly impossible. We are BEGGING you to share, share, and share again because we have no suitable foster or forever home for our sweetheart Val. We want to be totally honest about what's going on. Although we have previously posted that Val does well with other animals, it's really no longer the case. It's a little baffling and very disappointing to see a change in her personality towards other ... (Read More)dogs. We have a theory about this. When Val first came to us she was a new mother, very thin, and heartworm positive. Although she didn't appear to be particularly sick, she was probably not feeling her best. At that point she was grateful and easy going. Now that she is perfectly healthy and feeling strong, she has decided she can challenge her canine siblings in her foster home. The situation has become dangerous because we would hate for anyone to get hurt breaking up a scuffle. We consulted a behaviorist who tried to introduce Val to various dogs of different sizes and her reaction made it clear that dogs are no longer welcome in her life. Val is an almost 2-year-old Boston terrier/pit bull mix who only weighs about 40 pounds--every ounce full of personality! Val is very friendly with everyone and loves to meet anyone who will give her love and affection; this includes children! She is super duper snuggly and loves to be with or on her people. We cannot emphasize enough that Val is truly the most amazing and perfect dog as long as she isn't agitated by other dogs. She has never growled, snarled or snapped at anyone, even at the vet's office. Her issue really is only other dogs. Val is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is also housebroken and crate trained. She needs a little leash training, but is already better than when she arrived. She rides well in the car and loves to go visiting new people in their homes. If you would like to meet Val or if you have any questions, please email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com. If you are interested in meeting or adopting please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00138Carmela (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Carmela. This pretty girl is a big ol' puppy. She is probably around 1 year old and full of energy. She isn't obnoxious or anything, just goofy, silly and happy...all of the time. Carmela was a stray in the county so much of our information about breed is just guessed. She weighs about 50 pounds, but we have no idea what her mix is. She could have some husky in her, but what are those ears? Whatever her mix, her future family will be very lucky to have her. Carmela was found with a larger lab mix guy. She has also been around some of the dogs at the shelter without issue. A playful dog buddy might even be ideal for her. We aren't sure ... (Read More)about cats in the home. Those she has met on leash, she is dying to chase. She doesn't show any aggression, but she is also not so keen to ignore them either. We think kids who are steady on their feet would be a great fit for Carmela. Carmela is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is well behaved in her kennel at the shelter and will likely transfer to a crate in a forever home without much issue. We aren't sure about being housebroken--that can't really been known when in a shelter environment. As we tell everyone, we seldom have issues with dogs from the shelter transitioning smoothly into a forever. Nearly all of them are housebroken or pick it up within days of placement. If you would like to offer Carmela a foster or forever home, please start by completing an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Taffy. This is a sweet little girl who, along with Trooper (also posted), was in need of a new home, because they needed to be contained when outside. Taffy is about 4 years old and weighs 25 pounds. She loves to run and play. She also loves to explore which makes it a bad idea for her to be off leash when not contained in a fenced yard. She is pretty shy towards strangers with cameras, but will gladly perk up for pizza crust or doggy treats. Taffy has been raised around children and has been very patient with them in the past. We think children who understand how to take things slow as she adjusts to a new environment in the ... (Read More)beginning will be her new best friend. Taffy has also been raised around other dogs. She likes to romp and play with them too. In foster care, we have learned that Taffy is a bit resistant to change and needs a little time to warm up before her really playful side shines through. As for cats, she has been around outside cats but we don't know how she would be with them indoors. Taffy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Trooper. This adorable lab is a 5-year-old, 54 pound, calm sweet guy who needed a new home because keeping him contained was not an option for his former family. He is the most charming, sweet boy EVER. Trooper is a special guy for so many reasons, the biggest being his ability to overcome adversity. A few years ago Trooper was let out by a housesitter and he took off. No one was able to find him for a few days until a farmer happened across him with his leg stuck in a fence. Sadly, Trooper's rear right leg was amputated. Trooper bounced back quickly and still runs as fast (or faster) than most other dogs he plays with. He can even do ... (Read More)laminate flooring with no issue and is fine on short flights of stairs. Trooper is a gentle soul who still loves to run and play. He has been raised around children of all ages and is patient with them. He is also great with other dogs. He likes to play and wrestle a bit. Sometimes he plays fetch, but he isn't always great about bringing the ball back. Trooper has been around outside cats. he does chase them sometimes, but he is also willing to lay in the sunshine together with them. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-07-00159Luna (female)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Luna is still a pup, maybe 8 months, and weighs about 45 ponds. We guess she may be some mix of hound and Great Dane. She isn't done growing, but won't be super huge. We think she might have some other breeds in her as well, but without knowing her full history it is hard to tell. Luna was abandoned a couple of months ago along with two adult dogs when her owners up and moved, leaving the pets behind. Luna was taken in by a family wanting to help, but they soon learned that they were not prepared for a puppy. We gladly accepted her into our program and want nothing but the best for her from here on out. Luna is quite the character. She is ... (Read More)very friendly, bouncy and happy. She loves to play with other dogs, but not all other dogs get her. She will need to an only dog or have a very playful dog buddy in her forever home. She likes to swat like a cat and run in circles while swinging her booty around as wiggly as possible--this doesn't appeal to everyone. Humans will watch and think it's hilarious and adorable at once. Luna's current foster siblings are older and not impressed with her play style. That is why her current foster is so temporary. We were told that Luna had been around cats, but we aren't so sure that she likes them. Maybe she is still getting used to her new environment, but cats don't seem to be welcome so far. Luna has been around children and would do fine around any that can handle her clumsiness. We don't want any little ones getting knocked over and hurt. When Luna isn't playing, she is cuddling. She is so sweet and really is a great dog. She loves toys, but she also loves to be with her people. She isn't used to leash walks right now and gets a little nervous if you travel too far from the house. Treats are great motivators though. She also knows how to sit and listens when being corrected. Luna is solidly housebroken and crate trained. Luna will be spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm tested, and microchipped prior to adoption. If you would like to offer this beauty a foster or foster-to-adopt home please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $175. Chihuahua    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Taz. This guy is so incredibly adorable. His foster mom cannot say enough great things about him. He is a sweet little guy. He is a bit shy, but does warm up quickly and is easy to handle. He isn't nippy or grumpy at all. In fact, he is very sweet and cuddly once he relaxes with new people. We are lucky that we do have old vet records from Taz that put him at 9.5 years old. He currently weighs almost 8 pounds. Of course Taz is good with other dogs, especially those his size. He has always been around other dogs and seems to like having them around. He would also be fine in a home with cats. We think calm, gentle kids would be OK in his ... (Read More)forever home. He isn't overwhelmed by anything in particular, but would probably prefer a calm environment where he gets a lot of attention. Taz is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He recently got a full dental; poor guy only has 6 teeth left. No worries though, Taz could also be called Mr. Piggy at dinner time. Taz is comfortable in the crate. He wears a belly bands in the house since he is working on house training. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-07-00109Ooma (female)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Ooma. This 6-year-old coonhound mix is beyond adorable and so ultra sweet. She is gentle and loving to all creatures. Sadly her current family has developed some harsh allergies and forced to find her a new forever home. We think this should be pretty easy because she is pretty easy to fall in love with. Ooma was once a stray and appeared to have had many litters before finally being spayed. She In her current home Ooma lives with cats and does great. In fact, she loves to play with her new little kitten friend. She is also happy to meet new dogs. She is a little social butterfly. She is currently living with a toddler and is very ... (Read More)gentle with her too. Ooma knows a couple of commands and has come a long ways in the year she has been with this family. We are guessing that she didn't have the most stellar beginning at life because a lot of noise, loud noises or harsh voices make her pretty nervous. She gets particularly nervous if a man with a deep voice is stern with her. She's such a good girl that there really shouldn't be any reason for that anyway. Ooma is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She is also housebrokn and crate trained. In fact she likes to have her crate door open so that she can retreat to it whenever she needs a safe place. Oooma is pretty decent on leash but gets little nervous in the car unless she is in someone's lap. She's a 60-pound baby (who could lose a little weight). Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Winchester. This is one cool dog-cat. He was found as a stray a couple of years ago by the kind owner of a doggy-daycare. He became the mascot and ended up living there. He clearly enjoys the companionship of dogs and is very friendly with strangers. He spend most of his days in the shop window being able to watch the world go by and greet customers. Unfortunately, Winchester's world has changed significantly since the business has relocated. He no longer has the ability to roam as freely as he was used to, no longer has windows, and due to the layout of the new building, he has become somewhat depressed from the changes. Although ... Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cookie. This pretty girl is most likely a pittie/Australian cattle dog mix. She's about 2 years old with looks that are completely mesmerizing. Cookie is not going to be the easiest of placements, but we are going to give it our all to make sure she gets out of boarding (her current residence) and into a a great forever home that really gets her. The sad, hard truth with Cookie is that she has suffered abuse. It's pretty clear in the way she reacts to certain noises or certain people. Men scare her at first, especially if they are intimidating in size or behavior. She will warm up, but she likes to take things at her own pace. She does ... (Read More)best with slow, gentle interactions, and she trains so well with positive reinforcement. Cookie has known very little and the ladies at day care have shown her more love than she has probably ever had. She has improved so much already that we are excited to see her blossom in a new home. Cookie has a lot of great qualities like being extra snuggly. she is affectionate and oh so loving. She is also very playful and LOVES toys. She gets bored easily if she doesn't have a variety of durable toys on hand. She particularly likes antlers and tough chews. Another great quality is her love of other dogs. She plays a little rough, so little dogs wouldn't be a great fit. She and dogs of a similar size (50 pounds) and a similar play style get along swimmingly. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Cookie and cats. We think matching her up with felines would be a bad idea. Cookie would do best with older kids whose movements are more predictable and who can understand what her limits are in terms of fear. Cookie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She needs a consistent schedule for potty breaks in order to avoid accidents. She is crate trained. In general Cookie is very food motivated and really connects quickly with her favorite people. She is a tugger on leash, but rides great in the car. She can get spooked by strange noises on walks and would probably do best with a fenced yard where she can safely run off some of her energy. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sookie is a 5-year-old Australian shepherd mix who was a stray taken to a southern Indiana shelter where she lived for 1.5 years. She finally found a special someone who fell in love with her despite her quirks, which are many--she doesn't like dogs, cats, or kids, and she isn't always 100% housebroken. Just when her life seemed to be going great, her mom had some unexpected news--she's pregnant. It's just not going to be possible to raise a new baby and properly care for Sookie under the same roof. Remember: Sookie doesn't like kids. So, now what? This is where the community of dog lovers comes in. There IS someone perfect for her out ... (Read More)there; we just have to find him/her/them! And now for the awesomeness that is Sookie. She is oh so loving and sweet. We met her and were instant friends. She was very trusting of us, friendly and appreciated any affection being dished out. In her home she is very cuddly and loves to curl up and watch TV. Basically a 50-pound lap dog. She loves to go for walks and walks well on leash. She is a medium energy girl, but would do great with an active person as well. Sookie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Chihuahua    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bandit. Yes, this guy is totally awesome and totally cute. He was the dog from the hoarding case who was strutting on a walk with his foster brothers. Bandit is an 8-ish-year-old, LARGE, long-haired chihuahua. And by large we mean 16 pounds of chihuahua. Clearly something else is in the genes somewhere, but only a great DNA test could help us on this (see post from Wednesday). Bandit has been fostered with dogs slightly larger than he is and has done great. He is also calm, cool, and collected when walking with much larger dogs. We think he could do well with any dog that can do well with him. We don't know about cats, but we suspect ... (Read More)that he will be just as great with them too. Kids probably need to be patient and slow moving. Although Bandit is one of our most resilient troopers out of the hoarding dogs, he is still getting used to his new life. He doesn't really approach for affection yet, but loves when he gets it. He has such a neat little personality and will be a joy in his forever home. Bandit is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He has had a dental recently and, as a result, looks and feels great. he is using a belly band to prevent accidents when not supervised, but all in all is doing great on housebreaking. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cisco. This handsome guy with the goofy grin is an 8-year-old long haired chihuahua. Cisco weighs about 8 pounds. Little Cisco was once a terribly shy, nervous dog. After a couple months with his foster he has learned to properly dog and to accept being spoiled. Cisco is still shy and won't always approach his people, but he is very comfortable being near them. In fact, he loves to jump on the couch next to his foster mom; he follows her everywhere. He also loves his dog bed that he 'stole' from his foster siblings. Cisco loves to run in the yard and gets excited for meal times. He also gets excited when asked to go outside. He is ... (Read More)currently fostered with cats and other dogs. He is doing great with everyone. We think other dogs in the home are necessary because he feels most comfortable among his peers. He is never ever bitey or snarly, but older, calmer kids are probably ideal for him. Cisco is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He has also had a dental although his teeth were much better than his siblings. Cisco is housebroken on a consistent schedule, but wears a belly band when not supervised...just in case.     Meet Gilbert. This adorable guy is a goober. He is silly, funny, always happy, and very affectionate, not to mention also super adorable. Gilbert is listed as a 9-year-old pit mix. We don't believe it. This guy has sparkly teeth and more than just a skip in his step. He is a perfect medium who weighs about 45 pounds. He has a little gray on his muzzle, but, just like with people, he may just have early-onset gray. Gilbert is no puppy, but he does have such a baby look about him. We can't get enough of this charming guy! Gilbert is a total sweetheart who loves to meet new people, greeting them with kisses. He doesn't know a stranger!Gilbert ...     Baxter is an adorable and happy mixed breed guy, maybe border collie, and weighs about 55 pounds. Baxter is about 10 years old as far as we know, but doesn't act a day over 7. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Peaches. We really think just the right picture will make a difference in getting a dog adopted. In all honesty, this is probably not *the* picture for this super duper adorable dog. Peaches is a 4-year-old pittie mix. She is squatty, wrinkly and has a head bigger than the rest of her body--just the way we like it. She is so cute. Peaches was a stray who ended up at IACS (formerly IACC). She was tested with dogs and didn't do well which meant she was deemed "rescue only". Well, not many people are looking for a pittie mix who doesn't like other dogs (or cats) and no rescues came forward. We were hesitant too. A fantastic ... (Read More)foster offered to take Peaches and give her a great temporary home. Of course we couldn't say no. Peaches is so wonderful with people. She is very friendly and loves young and old equally. Like we said above, she does need to be an only pet in the home though. She is a little strong on leash (Easy Walk harness is helpful). Otherwise, she is a well-behaved and a doll to share a home with. Peaches is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken and quiet in her crate. Minus the aversion to other animals, Peaches is perfection. If you are interested in meeting Peaches, please complete the adoption application in the link below. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Solana. This sweet girl can be added to our list of great saves. She, along with two others, was given a given a deadline at IACC to either find rescue or be put to sleep. As awful as it sounds, sometimes large-intake shelters have to make awful choices when they get bombarded with strays and owner surrenders. When there is no place for the dogs to go, what other choices do they have? We get it and try to help when we can. Solana was definitely worth the save! Solana is a two-year-old pittie mix. She is a compact girl with a lot of strength in her little body. She weighs 45 pounds. We can tell she has something else non-bully in her ... (Read More)mix, but we aren't sure what. Maybe Jack Russell? Anyway, we love Solana and her friendly playful spirit. She is a total sweetheart who makes friends quickly. She was abandoned in her home for several days before she was found. She was scared and very thin. You would never know by her awesome spirit--she is happy, bouncy playful, and always ready for snuggles. Solana loves having a canine companionship. She is deaf and might feel comforted having another dog to read body language and cues about her surroundings. Solana does not do well with cats. We could see Solana in a home with children who are steady on their feet. She get a little bouncy when she's extra excited. Solana is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken, but not crate trained. Well, she can go into a crate, but absolutely hates it. At her foster home she is confined to one room and does great. She will need more work on commands. It's a little tough because of her deafness. Simply giving a verbal command won't cut it. We are working on hand cues with er and want her forever family to do the same.     We know bonded pairs are a challenge, but check out these two beauties who are in need of a fantastic home together. Meet Ginger and Gabby. These sweet girls are 3.5-year-old pit/golden retriever mixes. They are a bonded pair of littermates who do not not know life apart. They are looking for a forever home together. And as their foster mom has reported, "Anybody would be lucky to have them. They are the sweetest and most loving four legged children ever." Gabby is the larger, fluffier one of the two, weighing 65 pounds. Ginger weighs 55 pounds. They kind of gauge their energy around yours. They can be ready to play at a moment's ... (Read More)notice and really like to play ball in the yard. They also play with one another quite a bit. To the untrained ear it can sound pretty rough, but they are just loud and enthusiastic. When that's over, they are ready to hunker down and have some lazy time. But if you go to another room, the girls are coming with. Gabby and Ginger are good with other dogs for the most part. They don't seems to like dominant females though. Alpha males and non-dominant males or females are just fine. They are being fostered with other dogs and are doing well. Gabby and Ginger are fine with children, but we don't know how they are with cats. Both dogs are spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. They are solidly housebroken and crate trained. At the foster's house they stay together in a 5'x10' outdoor kennel inside the climate controlled garage while everyone is at work.
